Self isolate - can I claim furlough

I have a small business and 1 employee
Her bf has tested positive for Covid and she had to self isolate
She's asked if she can be put on furlough rather than SSP
Is that allowed? I'm not sure if I can be bothered to set up a furlough scheme just for 10 days

Ask her to send you the notification from the NHS after she’s got the PCR results back, and in the meantime speak to ACAS. They give both employee and employer advice www.acas.org.uk/contact

@pollycracker1

I didn't think you could claim SSP back?

She's generally been a fairly good employee and I have no complaints really. I wouldn't mind putting her on furlough but only if I'm not doing something illegal.

You can if it's covid related. It's also payable from day 1 rather than day 4. It's dead simple to claim back. I'd be putting her on ssp personally.

Acas were pretty clear that I couldn't claim furlough as she's on her notice period. I've told her that and unfortunately only eligible for Statutory Sick Pay 🙁

Ask your accountant to claim the sick pay back.
