Who is walking the dog?

I'm isolating as 2 in the house are positive. I'm double jabbed, daily testing negative and feel fine.

I'm worried about the dog not being walked. A friend has offered to walk him at the weekend.

We live in a rural village and back onto fields. I'm seriously thinking about taking him out at 5am when no one is around.

What have others done? (He's a small terrier type.)

I'd take the dog out. You are not going to transmit covid outside as long as you really don't get close to anyone.

Ffs the dog won't die if he doesn't get walked for 10 days.

The RSPCA and others put out all sorts of useful guidance about how to keep your dog healthy and happy when confined to home.

Definitely look that out (you might need it if your dog is ever ill or convalescent after surgery)

With that advice readioymavaioabie, and a friend who will do walkies from time to time, your ur dog will be just fine and you do not need to break isolation for thus reason.

Evrn during “lockdown” BoJo let you folks walk your dogs. You’re an adult. You can perform your is brisk assessment. I don’t know where you live but you do and you say it’s isolated. Sounds like where I live - no neighbors, nearest shop is 23 miles away, nearest cinema/department store/hospital 75 miles away. We can go over a week without seeing anyone. We see more bears and cougars than people. That’s the bigger risk when walking the dogs here.

Walk the bloody dog and don't be so fucking paranoid

Planty13 · 17/07/2021 22:34

We walked when close contact self isolating. Not sure what we’d do if we had positive people in the home, maybe we would still walk but really early or late

Taking him out yourself would surely be lower risk than the potential interaction with your friend? I would 100% walk the dog in a deserted area like that.

Hahaha the difference in opinion has made me laugh. Just to use two opinions - I'm bloody paranoid as I do have neighbours who are dog free and possibly of the opinion that the dog won't die if he's not walked for ten days.

Anyway. I have taken him a couple of times as he won't always go to the toilet in the garden especially if we've been outside. I've also had a negative PCR test back today so will take him again.
