Hi all,
Has anyone experienced or heard of anyone having a negative LFT (or more than one) but actually turning out to be positive with PCR Test or symptoms?

Thanks!

I thought I was just dehydrated initially, headache and mildly fatigued. I had to lie and say I had a cough to get a PCR test (this was last oct. I was working on a covid ward). It was positive. 5 days later I developed a fever, cough, body aches, severe fatigue.

Hi all,
It’s almost two weeks since my first symptoms - negative PCR result (was taken around 4 days after initial mild symptoms) and negative LFTs.

I feel a lot better, just slightly tired BUT my chest is still bad. Not had any cough whatsoever, just painful, sore chest and airways and tight, v breathless. I’ve just slept and woke very short of breath.

Yup! Three days of negative LFTs and then a positive PCR .

Yes. My son did two negative lateral flows but something just told me he had it so booked a PCR. Positive

saywhatwhatnow · 27/07/2021 19:52

DH had negative lateral flow tests for 3 days, including the day he took a PCR which came back positive a week ago. Me and the DCs have had negative lateral flows and negative PCRs, taken after his positive, despite not distancing from him during this isolation. I'm presuming we've all had/got it anyway and will be cautious for a few extra days after isolation technically ends.

See I’ve just had a positive lft BUT it didn’t register until the next day !! I’ve just had a tidy up and there are 2 lines, I did it 2 days ago ??? It was definitely negative on day one about an hour later when I checked … done another based on that and it’s negative
DH says it might be something that got on there like moisture or something that’s made it positive
Don’t know what to do
If I were you I’d do them Over the next 4 days , that’s when symptoms develop , apparently

Maxtry · 27/07/2021 20:04

Yes.. PCR will be positive before lateral flow

Have you spoken to your GP at all? Sore, tight chest with breathlessness shouldn't be ignored. If you are struggling for breath, you should seek advice on 111.

All the tests I've taken have very specific time limits for reading the result, either 15 mins or 30 mins. After that it says to discard. Presumably because it becomes inaccurate over time.
