What happens to closed bubbles in schools on Monday?

Ds in year 4 has been advised his school bubble has to close from yesterday. However from what we can work out he isn't a close contact so it's just a bubble closure for him. From what I can decipher, bubbles rules change from Monday- does anyone know what happens to those who are already isolating in their bubble?
They have another week of school.
Thanks!

Nothing. His already isolating.

Isolation for close contacts doesn't end till mid August, so even without "bubbles" children can still be asked to isolate for a class case.

Also he's already in isolation anyway so it will continue.

Thank you.
I'm fairly sure he isn't a close contact so possibly wouldn't have to isolate if it happened on Monday so it's frustrating!

Check with the school. Ours told parents on Wednesday that closed bubbles could return, but have requested pupils do a LFT before school.

If you are already isolating you have to carry on. Sympathies OP, my kids are off too, my DS has just done 2 stunts of isolation virtually back to back, he is utterly fed up. They are able to go back for the last few days of term but I am worrying that despite bubble rules changing on Monday, if there is a case in his class this may still mean the whole class is sent home. Really, really hoping for everyone that this is not the case.

*stints not stunts!

Presumably if the whole bubble is closed it's because they've all been identified as close or potential close contacts. Unless he was absent during the time the person who tested positive was infected then he needs to continue to isolate. I know it's not the answer you wanted to hear.

I thought bubbles were all counted as close contacts to each other therefore when a bubble bursts all must self isolate.

You need to establish whether he’s a close contact or not. The letter/email/message you will have got from school should tell you that.

If he’s just been sent home because they’ve closed the whole class/year group, it depends what school is doing from Monday. Ask them.

ineedaholidaynow · 16/07/2021 08:56

Most schools round here aren’t changing the rules for next week

hairycabbage · 16/07/2021 08:58

At the moment school have closed the entire bubble whilst they get further advice so we should get an update today. I was just being impatient and trying to second guess how it might play out!

This is the government guidance for schools from Monday.
