Can you drink (alcohol) after vaccine

I've just had my second dose of AZ today. I'm not planning on drinking alcohol tonight but if I was could I?

There doesn't seem to be much information about whether alcohol interferes with the vaccine. Surely though if it was detrimental to drink after being vaccinated they would warn you when they vaccinate you.

Yes

LucilleTheVampireBat · 15/07/2021 18:31

I did....figured if the vaccine was going to make me feel ill then why not stick a hangover on top of it!

(As an aside, zero side effects from vax so just a hangover to contend with).

TakeYourFinalPosition · 15/07/2021 18:47

My nurse told me to go have a glass of something nice after both doses.

SonnetForSpring · 15/07/2021 18:47

Yes but alcohol doesn't help your immune system so better not to.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 15/07/2021 18:52

I did. Vaccine definitely worked as I've tested positive for antibodies since having it (taking part in the ONS study) and was always negative before.

Mindymomo · 15/07/2021 18:53

I didn’t drink for 3 days before and after my first vaccine, also ate healthily. I am 60 and didn’t have any side effects, don’t know if it helped.

dementedpixie · 15/07/2021 18:55

Yes I had a few drinks after both of mine as they were both on a Saturday and I wasn't giving up my usual tipple on a Saturday night

FizzyPink · 15/07/2021 18:55

I had both of mine the morning before big nights out. No idea if it stops them being as effective but I had zero side effects either time so I didn’t notice any adverse effect.

Bluntness100 · 15/07/2021 18:56

Yes it’s fine, studies have been done, no impact.

doublejabbed · 15/07/2021 19:01

I'm already feeling achy and spaced out after having the vaccine this afternoon so I wouldn't be having one anyway. Hopefully I won't feel too rough and can have my usual Friday night drink!

Agree. I love a drink, but even I didn't drink for a few days after, to give immune system the best chance. Same with DH. And he loves a drink too.

I don't drink at all. You can drink with it though which is why I commented.

Can people really not do without one even after a vaccine.

I was just wondering whether there was an issue if you drank after having it as there doesn't seem to be much information out there regarding it.

I could have abstained but I wanted my Saturday night drink so I had one. I then didn't have another drink until the next Friday night.
