Is anyone keeping kids off school for last few days?

DS, age 13, has OCD and is really worried about (1) catching Covid in school and (2) having to isolate for first part of school hols. He says that school doesn't feel safe - HT has asked people to wear masks but ds says that only a few people are. Covid cases are shooting up in our town and I just don't understand why the HT hasn't told everyone to wear masks - easy, effective and free.

WIBU to keep ds off the last 3 days of term to reduce his risk of catching Covid and to avoid him being asked to isolate if a close contact tests positive? He can do work on Google Classroom.

Yes Dd is yr10 and isn’t due to go back until Tuesday anyway as currently isolating so have taken the decision that she won’t return.
We are only going to visit family within the U.K. for a holiday but still want to minimise the risk and as the Covid rate seems to be high within her school I’m keeping her home. She can attend online lessons until the end of term as she is currently doing at the moment.

I know of a few others who are keeping children home, it is because the bubbles seem to burst frequently here and so they are all either isolating already or have isolated recently and emails daily from school about groups off and teachers off for isolation.

Lots of people are doing it from what I hear.

Haven’t done it with Dd but it’s causing anxiety I agree.

DD has finished for summer already but if DS wasn’t year 6 I d take him out to make sure our holiday on 31st July isn’t ruined! But it’s his last two weeks of primary and he wants to be there, until they finish on 28th. he’s lost so much of this time I don’t want to ruin it for him. But in your situation I would.
