Covid and tesco delivery, how should this work

I have covid. Have booked a tesco delivery for tomorrow. There was no option for bags, they were very clear no bags or liners.
Should I ask them just to dump the stuff in the drive? Will they read a note if I add it to the delivery instructions on the order, or would I be better off taping a note to the door. Bags would make this loads easier!

Put in the notes that you have covid and to please knock and leave everything ok on the doorstep.

Hopefully they will put it in bags anyway!!

Hope to feel ok x

That's what they do , they call you from outside and ask you to open any gate or entry
Then they place the bags down and walk away

Well that's what they did for me in January

Stay well

They'll leave it in trays on the driveway and wait while you unload it so make sure you have a ton of your own bags ready to repack it on your drive way to take into your house

I'd probably make sure the driver sees you anti bac your hands before you touch the trays and wear a mask.

Ocado just left the crates for me! They are still in our garage, need to remember to return them.

When isolating with confirmed positive cases Asda delivered our shopping loose and left it on the doorstep, I had to wait until the driver was a safe distance away to open the front door and then transfer all the food into the house, I did think this was a bit odd given that I'd informed them that we were isolating on the comments section. Surely this is putting drivers at increased risk as I'm sure not everyone will accept the food being left on the ground and will end up opening the door to intervene.

Put your own bags out, or a box

StealthPolarBear · 14/07/2021 07:13

I don't have a box big enough and I don't think hell stand and pack it all into bags. Happy for it to just be dumped.

Do you have a big ikea bag or similar? Or even a big blanket to put it all on so at least its not on the ground.

xxreeldancerxx · 14/07/2021 07:19

Tesco no longer provide bags or the new liners that were used until recently. Shopping is delivered in the green boxes and it's up to the customer to empty it. Not sure if anything would be different if someone isolating though .....

www.tesco.com/help/covid-19/

This just advises that you should let them know when placing order or advise the driver when he brings order to the door - so just let him know and I'm sure he'll keep you right

StealthPolarBear · 14/07/2021 07:25

Good idea about a blanket

Have you a washing basket you could put out for them to use?

Tinpotspectator · 14/07/2021 08:56

Let them sort it out and look after your health.

We had one last Sunday, my husband has Covid. I let them know in the note section on the order. The driver left the receipt by the front door, knocked and then retreated to the pavement (path is about 3 metres). He got me to check it and agree to subs etc, then asked me to shut the door while he unloaded the crates onto my path and then I could open the door and retrieve the shopping once he was back to his van Smile
