Chance of outside transmission

Does anyone know what the chance of outside transmission is with masks? For up to 3 hours.

It depends on all sorts of things. It remains a possibility, especially

  • if very crowded
  • singing or shouting

Being outside would however be a big help.

Was crowded - there was singing.

Person 1 had positive lateral flow day before, still went - 1 jab.

Person 2 is double jabbed. Person 1 tried to stay away. Person 2 didn't know.

Still possible, I read that delta is 40% more transmissible outdoors than other variants.
I’d be cutting person 1 from my life after doing that.

MRex · 14/07/2021 07:41

I wouldn't want to spend time with person 1 again, they are very selfish.

Outside will have helped a lot, masks would help a little if worn by person 1, less so worn by person 2, though every little helps. If person 1 was singing then they'll have expelled a lot more virus regardless of their mask.

Person 1 did wear a mask - I just feel sorry for the people below them.

I am neither but live with person 2. I just hope person 2 is okay as really don't want to tell DC they can't go to school the last week and our holiday is canceled. Sad

Person 1 was really selfish. That’s exactly what’s putting me off going to Green Man festival this summer if it goes ahead. Hope person 2 and you all will be ok!

MRex · 14/07/2021 13:06

Person 2 should be offending as they know they are a contact, I hope they are?

MRex · 14/07/2021 13:06

Isolating, not offending.

Maybe, maybe not. When we got it in November (so not delta), they didn’t count outdoors as contacts.

With regard to its increased transmissibility outdoors, I would have thought 40% increased transmissibility regardless of setting? So any variant which is more transmissible than the previous variable is more transmissible indoors and outdoors? Still the case that it is much less transmissible outdoors.

This is what we don't know. Apparently they were far enough apart.

I am preparing to have to isolate myself by the weekend.

Why does someone's desire to see a football match trump the health of other people?
