I know of at least 6 people with covid symptoms but because they're testing negative on lateral flow tests they're still sending kids to school/nursery, going to work & planning on going on holiday.

Do the few asymptotic people they catch outweigh the 'positive but testing negative' ????

I don’t think there ARE any official updates symptoms for Delta?

New persistent cough has always been a symptom of retro covid.

@Shelddd

It's really annoying. I really hoped people who are sick would stay home regardless of whether it's covid or flu or cold. Was hoping that would be a positive change to come out of this. But people are just back to their selfish ways.
My employer still has the same sickness policy. I have no option but to go to work if it is not covid.
AfternoonToffee · 13/07/2021 18:17

The radio advert today mentioned the three original symptoms only.

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 13/07/2021 18:45

I don’t have CV symptoms. No temperature, no cough, no loss of smell or taste. But I do have a running nose and feel ‘coldy’ but no other symptoms. I tried to book a PCR online and ‘computer said no’. Went back, lied and said I did have one of either loss of smell / taste, temp and chesty cough and have a test winging it’s way.

When they don’t update the symptoms to reflect Delta on the .Gov website, you can understand how people might get confused.

I think I’ve just got a summer cold but 🤷🏼‍♀️

The rules are you do a PCR test if you have symptoms, so those people are just twats.

To be fair the messaging coming from government is so confused now that nobody has a clue what they're meant to be doing anymore.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 13/07/2021 19:07

No, but perhaps everyone with hayfever symptoms uncontrolled by hayfever medication should be getting a PCR test, don't you think?

Welcome to my world! I have terrible hay fever that antihistamines barely touch and I've been like this for years. I'd be permanently isolating waiting for test results if I took a PCR every time it flares up. I've taken tests if it's been a lot worse than usual but I can't do it every time.

That message has never changed, if you don't understand it that's on you. Millions of tests are done every week, how can you possibly think nobody knows what to do?

@Shelddd

Cool, yeah go to work and get 15 people sick. What if those 15 people can't afford to be off? If everyone just stayed the fuck home then you wouldn't have to worry. You're being short sighted.
I assume your decimal point isn't working and you meant to type that the R rate around 1.5. It's not been 5 never mind 15, where did you get that figure from?

I read a thread online the other day...it was by a scientist but I can't find it now - she said although LFT's aren't that accurate at telling you if you're infected, they're effective at telling you if you're infectious to others. Basically that if you don't have enough viral load to get a positive LFT then you're unlikely to be infecting others.

I agree the messaging has got so confusing no one seems to know what the rules are now. The actual rules have been confused with the proposed changes for next week and then the changes for the 16th August. (However I know that symptoms = PCR test) If the government truly wanted everyone to isolate they would make sure every one can afford to take the time off. No one will pay me to stay at home. I missed two days Pay last month waiting for ds test results to come back. So £300 out of our monthly budget. It’s a lot to loose!
If the government get their way, it’s every man for themselves Which is a far more worrying prospect than people using LFT rather than booking a PCR.
