How many people do you reckon will continue to follow the rule of 6 when indoor meeting?

And keep to gatherings < 30 for outdoors?

Just the worriers. Which seems like quite a few mumsnetters.

I won't!

Ultimatecougar · 11/07/2021 19:10

Most people aren't following that one now.

Wilkolampshade · 11/07/2021 19:10

Have they said they're keeping those particular restrictions? I'd be surprised tbh...

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 11/07/2021 19:11

We will be as will several friends. Cases are on the rise and many people have stopped testing or isolating and I’d rather we weren’t ill.

XenoBitch · 11/07/2021 19:12

I couldn't break those rules even if I wanted to Blush

MarshaBradyo · 11/07/2021 19:12

What is the deal with them aren’t they being dropped?

PuppyMonkey · 11/07/2021 19:13

It won’t be a rule any more then will it?

CherryPlumCrow · 11/07/2021 19:21

Same here. No more masks, no more rules. Enough is enough.

(I do think Mn is some weird other reality though where everyone is terrified of everything - so you'll probably get everyone saying they're sticking to the rules forever and ever and ever....)

Bordois · 11/07/2021 19:23

@MarshaBradyo

I think the OPs point is that they are but its masks that are causing more discussion. No one is saying how they will still continue to follow rule of 6 indoors, etc.
loulouljh · 11/07/2021 19:29

I have no idea what the rules even are now...so no!

TheGenealogist · 11/07/2021 19:37

I'm in Scotland where we still have levels and zones and goodness knows what else. I have no idea what the limits are, inside or out, so am ignoring them by default.

tappitytaptap · 11/07/2021 19:39

I’ve lost track of what the rules actually are. Even my anxious friends are bored of it all now. Mumsnet is the only place I know where worry is widespread and people are avoiding living their lives.

freelions · 11/07/2021 19:41

I haven't been strictly following the rule of 6 for the past few weeks so no I certainly won't be sticking to the limits after July 19th

MikeHat · 11/07/2021 19:50

The last time I had more than six in my house was 2018 so it hadn't crossed my mind. 30 outdoors? I don’t know 30 people to invite to my garden.

Nuuktown · 11/07/2021 19:59

I didn’t even realise those rules still existed

Bobholll · 11/07/2021 20:40

Gotta admit, I’ve not be following that rule. I’ve lost all track of what we can & cannot do! I know restaurants etc are 6 but I’ve been to friends house with 8-10 people quite regularly 🙈 I’ve also never counted my children in the rule of 6.. we often meet as a group of 6 adult friends (NCT) but we all have a couple of kids!

lljkk · 11/07/2021 20:54

These rules are in place now in England but probably being removed on 19 July.

So for weeks (or longer) most people have ignored the most basic legal requirements about social contact, is what you gals are saying. So yeah, what Bordois said. People are posting on MN & talking elsewhere like there is exactly one and only one form of social distancing in existence or that ever made any difference. It's like there is only form of social distancing that anyone can understand or remember.

OP posts:
ChocOrange1 · 11/07/2021 20:56

I won't be consciously sticking to it, but in practical terms I have been (and probably will continue to), because outside of large gatherings like a wedding I would rarely meet with more than 30 people outside.

Cantstandsmugness · 11/07/2021 21:19

There’s 60,000 at Wembley right now and they have all gotta get home! Who is gonna care if there is 7 in your house….

Katie517 · 12/07/2021 00:00

No! 60,000 at Wembley, 100,000 at Silverstone next weekend but only 6 in my house?!? That ship has well and truly sailed I think.

Porcupineintherough · 12/07/2021 08:13

Outdoors I'm less bothered but hardly anyone I know if doing indoor stuff beyond 1 or 2 people and I cant see that changing until end of summer at earliest.

LadyCatStark · 12/07/2021 08:18

This! We’re already not sticking to 6 people.

Info is freely available on scot.gov. There certainly are still limits on numbers in level zero which is what Scotland will hopefully be moving to on 29th July.

After 19 July, Rather than ask about flipping masks, may I ask ...
Emusareweird · 12/07/2021 08:21

*19th not 29th!

HelloMissus · 12/07/2021 08:26

I think one of the reasons the government is so strongly against the rule of six in pubs and restaurants is that they know it’s driving people to have home gatherings.
