What what I've heard it really varies. My colleague still has no taste or smell 18 months after covid, but this is extreme case.

Popfan · 10/07/2021 21:52

Mine came back after a week.

lemonyfox · 10/07/2021 21:54

3.5 weeks for me, 2 days for my husband

BigMamaFratelli · 10/07/2021 21:56

About four days luckily. It was driving me nuts

Crunchiedelight · 10/07/2021 22:00

Taste was a couple of weeks, smell took a couple of months. Found it so frustrating.

The hospital told my niece it can take 3 months! She’s on day 14. Other symptoms have eased up thankfully, but she still can’t taste or smell.

LaMariposa · 10/07/2021 22:35

Taste within a handful of days, smell 3 weeks plus. I’m still not convinced it’s as good as before though.

Flippyflops2021 · 10/07/2021 22:46

My husbands took 6-9 months to get back properly. Even now (1 year later he still gets a weird smell, it’s like a chemical/disgusting smell)

WentworthPrison · 11/07/2021 04:18

7 months and none of it is back. Sad

My DM had covid in October last year. Her taste and smell didn't come fully back and recently she has found that most things taste or smell foul. It's really starting to get her down.

SofiaAmes · 11/07/2021 05:09

It's been 6 months for my dd and it's still not back.

AgathaX · 11/07/2021 05:10

Just under a year for me. I only lost sense of smell.

CliffordMouse · 11/07/2021 05:21

I am on day 15 and I've had no improvement at all. Lost smell/taste completely Sad

A month, 6 weeks maybe.
ilikeboots · 11/07/2021 05:29

18 months and still not even half of what it was. I want them back, but not getting my hopes up.

ConnectedToSandsview · 11/07/2021 05:56

Mine came back within a week of going.

However, it’s currently intermittent. I can go a few days with having smell and taste as normal, then it’ll go. Sometimes for a few hours, sometimes for a day. At the moment I have a weird metallic taste and everything tastes very dull.

Unsoliciteddeckpic · 11/07/2021 06:03

I got covid in late Feb 2020.

Its still not back, so 16 months.

I get that, I keep think it's coming back. Then everything smells the same or Everything tastes metallic.

Then it just disappears again. I don't ever have it as normal, though But these weird things happen on occasion.

I also had a stage where everything smelled the same. An oniony, sweaty awful smell. Thankfully that stopped.

3 weeks for both taste and smell.

The loss of both was the only symptom I had, thankfully, I was however growing increasingly paranoid that I was going to be one of the unlucky few that didn't get it back for months, especially after DH got both of his back in just over a week!

AbsolutelyPatsy · 11/07/2021 07:02

you can do training to help them recover

bumblingbovine49 · 11/07/2021 09:17

My niece took about a month to get her sense of smell and taste back but she had another couple of months of smelling weird things ,for example some foods smelt of her shower gel or weird stuff like that
