Pcr test for 11 year old. Just the nose?

I just took dd for a pcr as she’s been in close contact with a positive.

The man told me to just do her nose as she’s 11. My friend has told me I should have done her throat as well.

Any ideas if I’ve messed it up?

The advice is to do throat and nostrils if you can, but if you can’t then do both nostrils instead.

I just did nose on my kids too, it worked fine. Don’t worry

Apparently most other countries only do nostrils.

@TheDukeissoHot1 How do you mean it worked fine? Do you mean all your kids tested positive?

I've had to just do the nose on my 9yo because he appears to have the biggest tongue ever and we can't even see the back of his throat never mind trying to reach it with a swab. His LFT is positive and we're waiting for the PCR result but I am concerned I couldn't go up his nose as much with the PCR swab as it was a lot bigger than the LFT swab. If it comes back negative i'm going to wonder if I took it correctly.

Both nostrils are perfectly sufficient. We are part of the ONS trial and I only ever swab DD's nose and we always get results.we also just had to do nhs tests due to Covid in the family and got results for both kids.

I have only done nostrils on my 11 year old.

I only do nostrils on my kids and on myself. I've done a few tests now and the test site wardens have said its fine to do it that way every tim I've visited.
