DD home from school as close contact

Hi all

My DD has come home from school this morning and has been told to isolate for 10 days as she has sat next to a child yesterday who had a positive lateral flow test last night.

It's my partners weekend with his ds, is he OK to still bring him to our house if dd is isolating? We can't find the guidance.

Surely if you do that then he’ll have to isolate to? If he didn’t that would make no sense.

DaxtheDestroyer · 09/07/2021 11:20

Yes, in close contact isolation only the child affected has to isolate, the rest of you carry on as normal until/unless your DD develops symptoms at which point the whole household isolates.

Idontgiveagriffindamn · 09/07/2021 11:21

As an aside the positive lateral flow should be followed up with a PCR test and isolation should only happen based on that.
I know a few people that have false positives - generally due to drinking blackcurrent beforehand

Only your DD has to isolate. The rest of you can continue as before.

I've read that isolating children can still go between their parents houses but I don't know how it works with other children coming to your house?

PurpleDaisies · 09/07/2021 11:24

Only your dd has to isolate.

Given she sits next to the child, it might make sense to be more cautious than if it was just a large bubble sent home.

Hopefully the PCR confirming the lateral flow test will be negative.

Yes, but if DD then comes down with Covid, your partner's son will be a close contact and have to isolate. If he stays away while she's in isolation, he won't be and can get on with life / school / activities.

This. However, it's only the isolating child that has to isolate. Son is currently isolating as bubble burst, my daughter is still going to school.

This is our first time any of us have isolated so we're all a bit flummoxed.

The child that tested positive is getting a pcr test and the school will email me over the weekend to let me know if it's positive and whether my dd needs to keep isolating.

DP still wants to bring his ds here for his contact weekend. I've literally sanitised everywhere and opened all the windows to keep him as safe as possible.

I feel like another poster said, that I need to be extra cautious because my dd was next to the child for an hour, it's not a bubble burst situation which I would be less concerned about.

Oh and if this child is positive, it will be the 15th positive case in dd's year group this week.

Yes but DD has to stay in a separate room from him

Yes she will be staying in her room, we have 2 bathrooms fortunately so we can keep them apart

What's the relationship with his mum like? In these circumstances she might prefer to wait a week.
ditsyprint · 09/07/2021 13:22

DD just had a very faint positive on lft test so we're not taking the chance now

Good call, OP.

Hope DD is ok.

PurpleDaisies · 09/07/2021 14:23

She needs a pcr test too. Flowers
