‘EXTREMELY RARE’ New side effect added to official list for two Covid jabs

The article says that an extremely rare side effect of swelling of the heart has occurred in roughly 100 people. So as a result they've added this to the side effects list.

So if over 4000 women have logged irregular and painful periods as a side effect why on earth has it not been logged as an official side effect!?!?

Because wimmin can't be trusted to know what's normal for them.

HmmmmmmInteresting · 08/07/2021 18:46

Because it's only women so it doesn't matter.

If one bloke's nob had fallen off after the vaccine they'd probably abandon the whole vaccination programme.

MrsLCSofLichfield · 08/07/2021 18:49

As long as it doesn't make you start reading The Sun, I'm all good.

PurplePiNeAppl · 08/07/2021 18:51

My poor dd is having heavy periods every TEN days since her jab
Prior to that for 9 years from starting her periods she had long and irregular cycles
She’s severely anaemic now and nobody is taking it seriously

Ifitquacks · 08/07/2021 18:51

Apparently we women have no possible way of knowing what it normal for our bodies, and the menz say it’s not a side effect so it’s not 🤷🏻‍♀️. I have only had one very late, very heavy period in my life (22 years of menstruation), and that was the one after my Pfizer immunisation.

CrunchyCarrot · 08/07/2021 18:54

Because it's all in our heads and/or caused by 'stress'. Angry

This is what we have been told …… ‘stress’

She wasn’t stressed ! She’s only stressed now as bleeding so often and she never had this issue before ! She had her first vaccination back in feb and 48 hours later had her period (earlier than expected) and now she’s bleeding so regularly.
They’ve given iron tablets and don’t seem bothered at all

That is dreadful, have you been able to speak to a HCP? The utter disregard of women's health is appalling.
RaindropsOnRosie · 08/07/2021 19:19

Because our Lords and Saviours, Men, have decided people with periods should just be quiet and suffer in silence because ew yuck blood.

Funny, but depressingly true.
PurplePiNeAppl · 08/07/2021 19:33

@babbaloushka yes numerous times. Just been given iron tablets and fobbed off that it’s due to stress

BringBackThinEyebrows · 08/07/2021 19:33

4,000 women reported adverse side effects on their menstrual cycles up until 17th May 2021.

The new figure is over 13,000 women, as reported yesterday.

We need to keep encouraging anyone with side effects to them via MHRA Yellow Card.

You have spurred me on to fill in the yellow card.

Wow! Thanks for the update! That's an incredible number.

Wish one of the journalists that pursue the mumsnet threads for stories would pick this one up and highlight the number of women affected and being fobbed off.

Bleeding every 9 days. Here's some iron tablets, now go away. Horrible! 😖

Everyone who has had an issue must report it. SO many issues. Most being swept under the carpet.

GonnaBeYoniThisChristmas · 08/07/2021 21:30

Because the swollen heart symptom has been medically verified in those who have reported it (because it’s significant enough that all those reporting it have also sought medical treatment).

The majority of women reporting disordered periods since the vaccine won’t have sought medical intervention for it.

Doesn’t mean it’s not happening but it’s just our data being collated on it, not doctors data.

Reastie · 08/07/2021 21:54

My theory (other than women being told to calm down, it’s all down to stress) is they don’t understand the process for why the vaccine could cause this. I remember a doctor initially saying at the start of the az rollout it was impossible for the vaccine from a scientific pov to cause blood clots. It was laughed at and we were told it was a coincidence. I feel similar will happen with this and periods. I’ve had my vaccine (second one next week) and very happily so, but it does make me think, how much do they really know about the effect of the vaccines on us.
