Received vaccination in an amber country in EU, do we still need to quarantine?

MilBesos · 08/07/2021 13:12

Apparently! Why though? What a ridiculous situation.

GeorgeAnneAndTimmytoo · 08/07/2021 13:15

Yes sadly and for those Brits abroad desperate to see family it is a slap in the face.

Aprilstory2 · 08/07/2021 13:16

Where can we find information regarding this? Thanks

So are they only accepting the NHS app as proof then? I'm in the same position and have a printed vaccination certificate from the country I'm resident in. I was hoping that would be accepted.

xlexiix · 08/07/2021 13:19

Can you share where you have read this I am hoping to get my mom home as soon as possible but she has been jabbed in an amber country?

Geamhradh · 08/07/2021 13:20

I'm in Italy and double vaccinated, with digital EU pass.
Yes, for now, we still have to quarantine. There's talk of it being dropped for double vaccinated in the next update.

KeflavikAirport · 08/07/2021 13:35

Fingers crossed they'll update for UK citizens in amber countries. I really want to get back and see my elderly mum.

tywysoges · 08/07/2021 13:38

Just saw a headline on Facebook that fully vaccinated people will be exempt from quarantine from the 19th. Will try and find a link.

xlexiix · 08/07/2021 13:40

Yeah I know that is the status now I'm on my way back from an amber country tomorrow and fully prepared and paid up for testing. The question is I guess is are none NHS vacinated people going to be free to travel from the 19th

Geamhradh · 08/07/2021 13:43

Great!

Nootkah · 08/07/2021 13:52

From 19th July, double vaxxed people ordinarily resident in the UK do not have to quarantine on return from amber list countries. It doesnt make any difference where you received your vaccine, whether in UK or overseas, as long as you are ordinarily resident in the UK. This new change currently only applies to people RESIDENT in the UK (i.e. starting and finishing the journey in the UK, not visiting the UK from another country). There are plans to extend this to other travellers, but the first step only applies to those already resident in the UK from 19th July.

xlexiix · 08/07/2021 13:54

@nootkah can I ask where you have read that please? I am so confused at this point x

Nootkah · 08/07/2021 13:56

@Geamhradh if you're ordinarily resident in Italy this doesnt apply to you yet, the exemption from July 19th only for people ordinarily resident in the UK and visitng other countries, not for people visiting the UK from other countries. Maybe in the next update.

Nootkah · 08/07/2021 13:59

@xlexiix Listen to the actual announcement on the link shared above

Geamhradh · 08/07/2021 13:59

Ahh. Ok.

tywysoges · 08/07/2021 13:59

@Nootkah aaah I just saw the headline briefly, should have read it properly, thanks for clarifying Smile

HoppSuisse · 08/07/2021 14:03

Are there any other European countries doing this? Only requiring quarantine for non-residents? It seems a ridiculous situation.

xlexiix · 08/07/2021 14:07

@nootkah sorry! I was just reading the headlines 🤦‍♀️ Thanks for the help

MilBesos · 08/07/2021 14:38

Gosh this is so frustrating. I guess they just don't want tourists coming in at the moment? Desperate to come back and visit the family. Double vaccinated in an EU country and yet would still need to quarantine for 10 days plus 2 tests..... Argh.

KeflavikAirport · 08/07/2021 14:39

I tweeted Grant Shapps. I'll report back with the thoughtful, well-reasoned response I'm bound to get any minute now Hmm

Only those vaccinated by NHS! Not Brits abroad who have received vaccinations in their adopted countries.

Guess I won't be seeing my family again this summer Sad

(I started a thread about this in 'living overseas').

Howdidigetsoold · 08/07/2021 14:49

How long do you have to wait after the 2nd vaccine if the UK want to say it’s correct - 10 days or 14 days?

Jocasta2018 · 08/07/2021 15:05

In France, the UK is on their amber list.
Travelling from the UK into France, you don't need to quarantine if you have proof that you are double-vaccinated with a vaccine recognised by the European Medical Agency & have done a negative PCR test within 72hrs of travel.
You need to fill out a 'statement of honour' as well.
If you are unvaccinated, it appears to be a lot more complicated...
The French Embassy website appears to have up-to-date advice & PDF's of honour statements, etc.
