I heard about someone taking their 17 year old to a vaccination centre and she got her jab despite being under 18.

Anyone else done this?

My 17 year old went to a drop-in clinic last week with his friend and all the friends (4 in total, only one over 18) got vaccinated.

Gingerninja4 · 05/07/2021 15:55

Yes they can but by invite only

My son will get his this month as turns 16 he has severe Asthma and few other medical issues

He also has a sister that is CEV so will offer extra protection for her

bendmeoverbackwards · 05/07/2021 16:03

Will they start inviting this age group in then?

No plans to invite this age group have been announced, but it wouid make sense to start doing them by the start of August to reduce disruption to sixth forms in schools and Sixth Form Colleges in the autumn term.

16/17 years olds are entitled to jabs already if they are CEV (group 4) or CV or household of CEV/highly immune suppressed person (group 6)

I hope they crack on with this age group. I hear vaccination centres are much quieter now with most 18 year olds already been jabbed.

I didn't know they were doing them routinely as didn't know it was authorised by JCVI yet.

However they've authorised for 16/17yo who are CEV or CV so it makes sense it's safe and approved for this age group and to crack on with it!

My 16yo who is CV is fully vaccinated and it makes me more relaxed so I can understand why parents and young adults this age want to have it done.

I think lots of teens are being jabbed in drop in centres here.

bendmeoverbackwards · 05/07/2021 16:18

Any younger than 16?

Depends where you are
Here in Italy they're working their way through the over 12s.

Rillington · 05/07/2021 16:22

Only if they are CV themselves or live with someone CEV and immunosuppressed.

TeenMinusTests · 05/07/2021 16:24

I asked at my GPs this week about this and was told that No my 16yo couldn't yet have it, even if it would help her MH (missed all y11 due to anxiety & depression).

EvilPea · 05/07/2021 16:24

They can near me (with parental consent) at the drop in centre

Household contacts of CEV are for 16+

12+ for CEV DC on consultant's individual advice
