Do you have travel insurance for UK in case of covid isolation?

Like most people I am not going abroad this year but have holidays booked in the UK.
It looks to me like when they lift restrictions case numbers will go through the roof. I am double jabbed but obviously could still get infected and have to isolate plus there will be more contact isolations.
I wouldn't normally bother with travel insurance for a UK holiday as my main reason for wanting it abroad is medical cover. It seems like the risk of cancellation is going to make it worthwhile.

I've got an annual policy, I'm hoping it means I'm covered but you've reminded me to check.

I’ve got travel insurance through my bank and it covers UK holidays. Also the company I booked with have a comprehensive Covid policy so I’m covered with them as well

AllBellyandBoobs · 05/07/2021 09:32

Yes, I have taken it out. The risk of us having to cancel seems fairly high at the moment.

Where can i take this out?

oohmethumb · 05/07/2021 09:34

I got mine through Coverwise.

I'd like one which just covers for covid cancellation. I have multiple health conditions which still bumps the price up even in the UK where treatment is free!

So far I've only booked with places who have their own insurance so have allowed a full refund up to the day of travel if you have to cancel due to Covid.

I'm about to take one out for our holiday next month to cover our accommodation. Dd has had to isolate twice in the last month and has now tested positive despite being double jabbed.

I have multiple health conditions too - I think it's pretty standard on the basic, cheap policies that 'pre existing conditions' aren't covered. I know I've had a struggle to find policies that would cover my various issues in the past.

MikeHat · 05/07/2021 10:52

The holiday is not free cancellation unless there is a government directive not to travel.
I don't want all my health conditions covered, just in case of covid. I wonder how I would stand if I didn't declare them? I'd never contemplate that for abroad but in the Uk? The worst that could happen is they wouldn't pay if I had to cancel.

I've just looked at a few online and while most will cover if you have to cancel due to covid, they don't cover isolation.

I found some that covered isolation

I've asked that some things be excluded in the past. It was noted that I'd declared the condition but it wasn't going to be covered so it kept the cost down

MikeHat · 05/07/2021 15:17

@PinkSparklyPussyCat that's exactly what I'm after! Can you remember which company it was? I would feel more comfortable being able to disclose conditions yet have them excluded.

Ah sorry just saw it's a bank policy. I used to have one of those but it was discontinued.

I think it was through a bank account when I was with Nationwide but I would imagine that if they do it the others will as well. I’d think it was in their interests to as you’re asking them not to cover certain things!
