Just tested positive.

Started with hay fever like symptoms but pretty quickly moved on to high fever, shivers, so much aching and slight cough although chest really hurts when I do cough.

Feel really really unwell and I don't normally get ill. Also now scared at how bad it's going to get. If you've had covid when did you peak? When did you start to feel better - cheer me up please.

Think I'm on day 4 and I've had one Jab

Someone reassure me please!

Bumping for you OP. I'm sorry, I haven't had it, but happy to offer some moral support and Wine if that helps.

Highlowhigh · 04/07/2021 21:33

Thanks @JesusInTheCabbageVan love the username by the way!

Just need to calm down, it's just like flu 🤒

Temperature has been 39+ which is making me feel so rotten which is what's scaring me.

Fingers crossed I'll feel better soon

Hi OP

Just wanted to send some sympathy and hope you feel better soon.

I suspect you are right about the temperature - I had a very bad recurring tonsillitis just before covid and was getting temps of 39. It made me feel truly horrible, but also I always felt very scared when I had the temp. As soon as the temp went I still felt unwell but didn’t have that horrible frightened feeling. Hoping your temp drops soon or it comes down with pain relief. Flowers

Lemonmelonsun · 04/07/2021 21:51

I always thought temp whilst scary was also our bodies way of fighting infection? Sometimes

BotanicalBex · 04/07/2021 21:53

Hiya, sending hugs. Just wanted to say my ds has had exactly the same symptoms. Sat, he had runny nose, lots of sneezing, then sore throat and over night a cough and now temp of 39.5!! Lft negative. He had PCR this morning at 8am. I haven't seen him this ill for a long time, it's like the flu! X

Highlowhigh · 04/07/2021 22:01

Aww @BotanicalBex so sorry for your DS really hope he feels better soon.

I hope you start to feel better soon. Try not to fear the fever, it’s your body’s way of getting rid of the virus as viruses struggle to survive at higher temperatures, so your body is doing exactly what it needs to do. Try and drink lots of fluids and rest. I hope it’s short lived and you feel better soon.

BotanicalBex · 04/07/2021 22:07

@Highlowhigh

Aww *@BotanicalBex* so sorry for your DS really hope he feels better soon.
The only place he's been is school in last wk. We have had 0 cases at his school so very strange that my ds would pick it up. He hasn't been to anyone's house, no clubs nothing...He did say that kids have colds in school. How long did your pcr take to come back?
Riverrushing21 · 04/07/2021 22:33

Try not to worry- I’ve just had it and I’m pregnant so potentially could have been more vulnerable to it getting bad, but it didn’t. I had a temperature for two days, then a really bad cold (constant runny nose, headache etc) for 3 days. Then the temperature weirdly came back for 1 day. For the remaining 4 days I just felt really exhausted and drained. I’d start to feel better so get up and do something, then need to lie down again for a couple of hours. I only started coughing a little bit in the last couple of days. I think that was my body getting rid of the last of the infection! I slept for pretty much the whole 10 days and drank loads of fluids, also forced myself to eat 3x a day as normal. I think this combination of things helped my body to recover.

It wasn’t pleasant, but equally, not the worst illness I’ve ever had. I’ve reacted far worse and had worse symptoms from things like tonsillitis or flu in the past.

Just make sure you get plenty of rest to allow your body to get better. Flowers

Lakeshore6 · 04/07/2021 22:35

Day 4-5 was my shit time tbh - but I’ve definitely suffered worse with flu!

Look up proning for covid on YouTube - it helped my chest so much!

Namechangedagain2 · 04/07/2021 23:08

I ended up in intensive care for 2 weeks 10 days after testing positive. Amazon prime a blood oximeter and keep a close eye on your levels. Please don't hesitate to seek medical attention. Hope you recover quickly

DarceyDashwood · 05/07/2021 10:17

Have you got some lemsips/ paracetamol? Take every 4-6 hours as directed on the box and they will help with the symptoms. I’m on Day 6 after symptoms started and while I never got a temperature or felt that bad, I think I’m definitely on the mend and just feel really tired and snotty now. Just rest up and drink lots of fluids. Try to find a comforting box set to binge watch to help distract you. (I’ve been watching Golden Girls on Disney+) Hope you feel better soon and aren’t too scared Flowers

BarbarianMum · 05/07/2021 14:33

I peaked on days 10 and 12. Sad Hopefully (being young and part vaxed) you'll be over the worst far sooner but it is totally normal to feel worse in the second week, so dont panic if you do.

Chingchok · 06/07/2021 19:37

How are you today?

I started to feel better on day 6, worst was day 3 of symptoms. I’m 43, unvaccinated (not through choice but lack of availability where I live), and no underlying risk except perhaps asthma. I did almost call it in on the worst night but was actually too ill to do so and felt better in the morning.

Hope you feel better soon, just take it day by day and call it in if you feel something’s off.
