Anyone awake who can help me? Meant to start work at 6.30

Hiya.

I start work at 6.30am. My child had a cold Sat(none of the 3 symptoms for pcr) during the night he has been coughing and feeling unwell. Can u confirm that I need to stay at home, I've booked a pcr this morning. Are there any work places exempt from this advice ie: ones that require regular testing? For example I have to do a lft before every shift.

I think you need to tell your work and self isolate unfortunately. Especially if you’ve booked a PCR.

I really hope it isn’t too awful financially for you to do this.

If your workplace require regular LFT tests this suggests to me they are concerned about transmission- health or social care setting? Or place of high transmission e.g. university?

No one intends an LFT to replace PCR where an employee or member of Thor household is displaying symptoms.

You need to self isolate until the results

CatsForLife · 04/07/2021 06:02

Yes, you need to isolate

Yes I know this and I don't want to go in and risk anyones health. But I'm making sure I know the rules for when I ring in.. they are so short staffed and I cam imagine they may encourage me to go in.

Yes the whole family isolate until the results are in - hope they feel better soon.

Meant to say lft are for spotting asymptomatic cases - if they question you the rules are still anyone in the family with symptoms - the whole household isolates until results are back.

Thank you. I feel awful though as they will struggle all shift. This is the first time I've had to ring in since I've started there 2 amd a half years ago. I know it's the right thing though.

I think you’re in a strong position because you have booked a PCR (for your child?)

It would be highly unethical for them to require/ pressure someone to come in knowing that.

Good luck op.

Yes you isolate. I think they should be grateful that this is only your 1st isolation, you've been incredibly lucky to avoid it so far! Can you do any work from home?

No I work in a care setting. I just told them I wouldn't be in as advised by NHS as I have to isolate. I didn't give them option Grin

You’ve done the right thing and have done really well if this is your first time: I have a 3 year old and have been off 3 times for him to get a pcr (all negative so I was back quickly, hope it works out the same for you)
