I work in education. We had a bubble close last week due to a positive case. They are not due back from isolation til tues.

I've just seen on social media that one member of staff included in that bubble has posted about a lovely day out.

Would you do anything with that information or leave it?

Bubbles, isolation, social distancing, masks are going in 2 weeks. Forget it. It's over. Covid is here to stay but life needs to be normal again.

That’s pretty shit from a member of staff. I don’t think I’d actually do anything though. Except think a lot less of them. I would find it hard not to mention to other colleagues.

To defend myself:

It is a legal requirement to self-isolate if you test positive for COVID-19 or if you are identified as a contact and told to self-isolate by Test and Trace. Failure to self-isolate for the full time-period can result in a fine, starting from £1,000

Schools are equivalent to T&T. See eg this page from Citizens Advice below - it’s a legal (therefore fineable for breaches) requirement (see If you don’t self isolate when you should)

www.citizensadvice.org.uk/health/coronavirus-rules-you-need-to-follow/check-if-you-have-to-self-isolate-because-of-coronavirus/

Also, I said I’d be tempted to, not that I’d necessarily do it!

sirfredfredgeorge · 04/07/2021 11:20

I imagine the schools "T&T" decided all the children were close contacts thus sending them home, but the teachers were not, just because they taught the bubble does not mean they were close contacts in covid terms.

And as the schools are the ones who decide who the contacts are it's perfectly easy for them to do this and a useful perk.

I think it’s going to take a while for mumsnetters to adjust. Do people really think that close contacts should still follow the same rules that we had in January? And then the 19th July is a magical date where close contact isolation is suddenly not needed because it’s now safe?

What if someone is a close contact at 11pm on 18th July? Are the whole of mnet going to suggest hazmat suits until their isolation ends on 28th?

I wouldn’t contact PH or the Police, but if it was at my School I would let the Head know. If she’s supposed to be isolating, then that’s what she should be doing.

BoredtoTiers · 04/07/2021 20:38

It very much depends what they were doing. Out with their kids on a quiet beach & for all you know they came in contact with no-one. Hanging all over mates in multiple pubs...meh, I'm not sure I'd report them (probably more bother than it's worth), but I'd certainly avoid them.

HSHorror · 04/07/2021 21:55

It's probably the test to release from isolation trial.
thing is that will be swayed by who the contact was and how close and if they are both vaccinated
With schoools being the place most likely not both vaccinated

Bakingwithmyboys · 04/07/2021 22:44

She works within the bubble that had a positive case everyday. The other member of staff who works in the bubble is isolating.

She was out with mates, photo even shows that.

I'll accept that rules are going in a couple of weeks and I may not know the whole story regarding some testing trial (highly doubtful but I can't say for certain I know).

Interesting there is a huge movement telling me don't do anything. I honestly thought it would be the other way around. I guess we are all just fed up.

The projection says 1.75m self isolating within a couple of weeks which is why isolation rules will change

That’s a huge number to let wander around mixing with others after contact.

I wouldn't do anything. Utterly fed up with this now. Live and let live!

Currently at home with DD2 who's bubble has burst. We have something important this coming Friday, don't want to say what, but something that's been planned for months.
I am going to do a lateral flow on her on Friday and if she's clear we are going to go.
Pretty sure she's had Covid anyway, I think she gave it to me, but we just can't live like this any more.
