Positive Lateral Flow…then two negatives , not sure what to think!

Ok so I’ve posted a lot today but I’ve got myself in a bit of a twist. I got what I thought was a faint positive (def a line within 30 mins just quite faint) . Given that everyone I live with bar 1 have confirmed Covid I assumed it must be right so booked and went to PCR. I’ve not been feeling great had headache but that’s it really. Anyway… as the lateral flow was faint I thought oh I’ll just do another one whilst I wait for the PCR result. Anyway this one was clearly negative , like no trace of a line. DH said it must be a duff one so do another , I did and that is also negative! Could it be a false positive the first time? I feel silly now rushing out and getting a PCR but I am living with Covid positive kids and husband so I assumed that I just had it!

I’m sorry to hear you’ve got it OP but thanks for coming back to tell us.

It really makes you think about all those people who are using an LFT as a way of measuring their covid status when they have symptoms. There must be a fair few who have had false reassurance.

Hope you and your family all get better soon.

Hope you feel okay OP. Day 6 of it here, and just starting to feel better

I feel ok, DH is worse than me though poor thing but he’s managing! I just feel a bit run down and achey think I’ve been lucky. Did another LFT for this study I’m in and it’s definitely negative

My DH is suffering more than me. Similar symptoms but his seem to be going on for longer. Take care

If your LFTs are negative and you're carrying out the test correctly then it's most likely you're past the stage of being highly infectious, even if you still feel rough.
In the first wave, contact tracing studies found that most people with Covid either didn't infect anyone else in their household, or only one person. It was common for couples sharing a bed not to pass infection between each other. The Delta variant is going to make that less likely, but even so, there is a big variation in how infectious different people appear to be.

@Ginmakesitallok did you actually read the OP?

There are clear references to the fact that a PCR has been done and they are waiting on results.
