How quickly are PCR test results coming back?

Haven't had to do one since December but had to take DC for one at 9am today (developed a persistent cough overnight).

Last time round the results were back within 17hrs (tested 2pm, email 9am next morning).

Is it unheard of to get them back same day?

I did a postal one on Monday, put in post box 7.30am Monday, results back 8am Wednesday. Part of a study doing lft at the same time as PCR to see how accurate lfts are, no symptoms, no isolating involved.

DD did a drive through one 8.30am Tuesday, isolating as a close contact, results back just under 24hrs.

My daughter got hers back in 2 hours! Drive through test centre.

We did ours yesterday at 10am, still no news at 11pm today... very annoying

DD1 and I did one at 1pm yesterday. Results arrived just after 7pm this evening. Not too long in the grand scheme of things, but after DD2's result came through in around 15 hours a fortnight ago, we were starting to worry that they'd gone missing. Thankfully negative.

My Ds had one at 10am last sunday and it was back by 10am tuesday. He had another one yesterday at 12 noon and no result as yet,

We posted off 5 tests yesterday. Postbox due to be emptied at 3pm. Did postal as much less stressful than taking 3 children (two of which have ASD) through walk-in. I expect it’ll be longer for results though.

I have tracked out postal one online and can see it's arrived at the destination. So depends on how long they take to process I guess and whether weekends are slower 🤷‍♀️

I took both my boys for a test yesterday at 4pm. To my amazement I had the results back about 15 mins ago! Fastest one yet. First back in August was 26 hours and second one in December was 28 hours
