I’m absolutely sick of it this morning

I’ve complied, had a vaccine I didn’t even want for the greater good and yet I can’t see a GP for a baby in pain.

It’s just opened the floodgates. I’m fucked off with attending scans alone wearing masks, being stuck in hospital for two days giving birth alone, getting no support with breastfeeding, everything closing in midwinter with a newborn, no HV support, no GPs, no nothing. I’m fed up of not being able to use my home as a home because of DP working from it.

I wish this fucking pandemic would fuck off. Sad
@Orf1abc - if you can provide data about 'many' working from home, that would be super.

I must tell my other half. He's been working 7 day, 18 hour weeks for months. He could have been at home all the time!
There clearly are some good GPs, I come into contact with some at work and all are great, also my own surgery have been fantastic, but people who attend the neighbouring GP surgery can't even get them to pick up the phone. I think the lack of consistency across the service isn't helping.

Itsprobablynotcominghome · 02/07/2021 17:53

GP’s must have a powerful union, because fuck me why they are not all in the surgery alongside their goddamn awful attitude receptionists, is beyond me.

Faffinator · 02/07/2021 19:04

Clearly there are some good conscientious GPs out there and there are also many crap lazy ones. Actually our dentist is the same I think he's been mainly doing crosswords for the last 18 months.

MouldyPotato · 02/07/2021 19:39

Will they give you a phone appointment? If so tale that and they might ask you to pop in? Thats what our GP does as they can deal with lots of phone appointments quickly.

@Musicaltheatremum

I don't know any Gps in my area who are working from home. Maybe they are isolating having had a household member with covid or a child off school because of a covid case and they have to work from home. We have had several staff members whose husbands have got covid and they are now isolating. I had 2 lots of time off WFH earlier in the year as I was waiting covid test results. We can't open for all appointments yet due to the fact we have to space people out in the waiting room. I'm getting quite good at looking through my phone surgery which is the same as my old face to face surgery and telling people to come down rather than phone then come down. It's quite obvious sometimes when people are going to need examining. Id love it if we could open up but we are advised not to. Our nurses appointments have to be spread out too so not too many in the waiting room
Can't people wait outside and be buzzed in? That's what ours are doing.

OP, it’s shit!

All you can do is demand that they see your baby face to face. I was told last week that after not being seen since they were six weeks old my babies 9-12 month review would be on zoom!!??! Our county are still doing these online 18 months into the “pandemic” when I can go to the pub, shops, abroad, to the hairdressers, to watch the football etc. when the neighboring county 2 miles from me have been doing them face to face since April. After 2 very angry phone calls where I told them exactly what I thought of their lazy approach to work and their lack of duty of care to my child I am getting a face to face appointment next week. My point is make demands on behalf of your child, tell them you won’t settle for anything less than what your child would have had if this had been 2019. Maternity/ post natal/ pediatric care has been shambolic throughout this and it’s time we all started shouting from the rooftops that we won’t take it anymore. To put it frankly they are bone idle and it’s easier to sit at home on zoom than to actually step up and provide an acceptable level of care to our babies and children. Enough is enough!!

I have to say I’ve seen the gp face to face several times - often after an initial phone call but lately they just let you decide - and had the health visitor come out to my house as well so there is no actual reason why it can’t be done. I’m very glad as I’ve really needed them. Having said that my current gp practice is incredible in general and I was aware of that before COVID. I’m not sure why the risk assessment has come to such different conclusions in different places or what can be done about it. I really but I really feel for anyone needing help and not getting it. That’s just absolutely awful. I know COVID is bad but it isn’t the plague and sometimes the small risk has to be taken. See them in the gp or someone will still see them, just in crisis in A&E instead. It’s a false economy. How will the services cope when they eventually do reopen? The backlog must be immense. I know locally our mental health services are absolutely swamped with the covid fallout. The more they can only see the top crisis people, the more a crisis builds for everyone else not seen, the more staff will leave….it just gets worse. You can actually pause things that are essential because to why don’t stop being essential.

ATieLikeRichardGere · 02/07/2021 23:50

Should say *can’t actually pause

Ugh *You can’t actually pause things that are essential because they don’t stop being essential.
