Will the under 18 years allowed to not quarantine even though they are not vaccinated?

Fitforforty · 01/07/2021 16:04

It will be country specific. Spain is only allowing in double vaccinated or children with a negative PCR test.

I think OP means on return to the UK
EasterIssland · 01/07/2021 16:41

ii believe kids will be allowed not to quarantine as long as parents are vaccinated

kids below 12 dont need pcrs for spain
Fitforforty · 01/07/2021 16:42

I’m which case I doubt our government has worked that out.

Echobelly · 01/07/2021 16:46

I've wondered about this - presumably at the moment, no one with kids will be able to travel, not that we're planning to this summer.

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 01/07/2021 17:02

Spain isn’t asking for double vaccination

SoSadAboutMyDad · 01/07/2021 17:05

Come the summer holidays we will be the most infected country in the world. I can’t imagine anyone will want us.

Onedaysomedaynowadays · 01/07/2021 17:10

I'm going to Majorca next week. Only requirement on the Spanish side is that you show a negative test on arrival if not double jabbed. Doesn't apply to children

EasterIssland · 01/07/2021 17:11

@NaturalBlondeYeahRight spain is asking from today double vaccine or pcr
NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 01/07/2021 17:26

Yes, PCR as well. So kids and those who have only had one so far can still go.

Geamhradh · 01/07/2021 17:32

Don't you also need a negative PCR on leaving Spain? Has that changed since yesterday? People were talking about it on other threads?

Onedaysomedaynowadays · 01/07/2021 17:40

That's nothing to do with Spain, you need a negative test to get back into the UK but you can do a weird LFT workaround on a video call with a nurse
Geamhradh · 01/07/2021 17:50

There was definitely something on one of the holiday threads, quite a few people were understandably worried about having to test before leaving Spain, in case they got stuck in quarantine over there. Maybe it was something imposed by airlines. I can't find the thread now. You had to do a PCR 48 hours before your flight back. It was a Spanish rule, not a UK one.
It was what was putting me off booking 😃

I see face masks inside are still mandatory for anyone over 6.

QuentininQuarantino · 01/07/2021 17:54

In Spain? Only indoors now. (Mandatory face masks) since last Saturday.

Yes, that's why I used the word "inside".
Homeontherangeuk · 01/07/2021 18:43

We have spain booked for the end of August, I'm worried about how quickly the situation can change... I understand the Spanish are desperate for tourists. My dc are under 12, dp & I are double vaxxed... I'm worried about the dc & a potential quarentine...

Watapalava · 01/07/2021 19:45

I think OP is talking about quarantine on return from abroad

Adults who are vaccinated will be fine

I read something on bbc that it will be testing for the kids instead of quarantine.

don't forget normal contact isolation i stopping july 19 for vaccinated so it'll all fall in line at same time and kids bubbles stop then so basically isolation gone - EU dont isolate vaccinated contacts ow

Flapflap1974 · 07/07/2021 14:22

When are they going to make the announcement about the quarantine?

OP posts:
Abraxan · 07/07/2021 16:51

You had to do a PCR 48 hours before your flight back.

For all flights returning to the UK you have to do a covid test within 72 hour of landing in the UK.
This can be PCR or LFT, but not an NHS LFT test. I know in Portugal you can get an LFT done at a pharmacy or even at the airport which is valid for use for coming back to the UK.

Abraxan · 07/07/2021 16:55

They haven't confirmed when they will be discussing the changes to quarantine, just say in next few days.

Talk about double vaccinated people not having to quarantine when returning from amber countries.

I suspect it will be the same as the self isolation rules - children under 18 won't have to quarantine, same as they don't isolate if in close contact with someone who has covid.

Some countries have already changed their rules - no quarantine for those double vaccinated or for under 5s. Negative PCR within x hours of arrival and/or landing for others. I know at least one country (was in MAlta) who say that if not 12+ you must be double vaccinated or have to quarantine in arrival - makes it very hard for British travellers where we aren't vaccinated 12-17 year olds.

Abraxan · 07/07/2021 16:57

The isolation rules change on 16 August, not 19 July.

Hoppinggreen · 07/07/2021 16:57

We are in Spain
Leaving Friday afternoon and have antigen tests booked tomorrow morning at a local clinic. You can do it at the airport but they are fully booked on Friday

LivinLaVidaLoki · 07/07/2021 17:17

Apparently Shapps now signing off no need for quarantine from amber list countries for the vaccinated. Official announcement tomorrow night. Proposed start date 19th July.
No separate briefing but will be covered on the news channels.

Just read on the Ipaper online

So many people back at work with no distancing. The fairest thing would be that MPs all crowd back into the House of Commons.
