Are you schools informing you of cases

Ds has 10 cases in her class of 30. I’ve only found out this out by parents communication on Facebook. The school has told my dd to isolate but no further info and the rest of the school have not been informed. Is this usual?

We only get told to isolate if there is a close contact, no more information. Not sure what other information required.

mocktail · 01/07/2021 09:30

We get told of every case. However there have only been about 10 in total since the autumn - I imagine they'd change tack if there were dozens.

GlassGlobe · 01/07/2021 09:56

We get informed of every case via email which I find useful. The close contacts get a separate email telling them what they need to do.

I really like this approach as it gives you a heads up when cases start to increase.

Silkiecats · 01/07/2021 10:04

We get told of every case and symptoms had and cases in whole county as well as testing stats. Get emails most days about covid, mainly testing as only one case since March.

TheDukeissoHot1 · 01/07/2021 10:49

We were told of the initial case that closed the bubble but weren’t informed about any subsequent cases. Only found that out by parents communication on Facebook/whatsapp

OliveTree75 · 01/07/2021 10:57

We get told of every case. Close contact letter/text for children in bubble, and case with no close contact letter for everyone else

Horst · 01/07/2021 12:28

We get told about all cases.

Spekoppar · 01/07/2021 12:36

The school confirmed they will infirm us of all cases. We’ve only ever had a couple though so not tried and tested in the case of multiple cases.

Spekoppar · 01/07/2021 12:36

Inform

Cornettoninja · 01/07/2021 12:54

We’ve not had many (and only in the last couple of weeks) but have been told about them by email.

AuntieStella · 01/07/2021 12:56

School, was doing this in the autumn wave, but seems to have stopped.

I hear about cases from DC, as it's a secondary school and they all tell each other on SM. more accurate and timely!

allgoodthings84 · 01/07/2021 13:12

We get told of every case and a separate email if it’s your child’s class and need to isolate. This is primary though and only 2 cases the whole time (touch wood as don’t want more now). It was the same class both times but months apart.

BoomChicka · 01/07/2021 13:16

Yes, had an email this morning actually about a different year group to dd.

BunsyGirl · 01/07/2021 13:17

We get told of every case even where they are in a separate division of the school - it’s an indie which covers ages 1-18. Only two cases since March, both in the sixth form.

UserAtLarge · 01/07/2021 13:19

We got told about every case by email along the lines of "a student in Year x has tested positive". Children who need to self isolate are advised separately.

Clickbait · 01/07/2021 13:23

We don't get told about cases in different year groups. For cases in the same year group, we get told if child is a close contact (obviously) and have sometimes but not always been told about other cases.

Wellbythebloodyhell · 01/07/2021 13:45

We get told there's been a case in school, it will usually say if its a singular case or multiple. It never says which year is affected just that the close contacts identified will be notified individually. Full year bubbles have never been sent home in DS secondary only close contacts.

ButYouJustPointedToAIIOfMe · 01/07/2021 14:13

Didn't know a different bubble burst - kids told me

School I work at - parents are told when their child has to self-isolate but not sure if everyone notified. The lack of transparency as a staff member is irksome - cases amongst staff and pupils never named due to GDPR.

kimlo · 01/07/2021 15:46

they used to, now it's only if it gets really bad. I'm half expecting an email at some point this week, it's been a tough week.

vickibee · 01/07/2021 15:49

Our school has had 80 cases recently, they shut the school and called every child in for PCR TEST, they can return on Friday subject to a negative result, the vice principal appeared on the local radio station today and apologised for the disruption. My child’s test came back clear

MilkCereal · 01/07/2021 17:44

No it's all hush hush and top secret. I'm a teacher at another school and hear about cases from them ! Are rates are rising quickly though....
