Who would have to isolate if a +ve case in a cinema audience?

DC really wants to see the Black Widow film next week. Generally we haven't been to anything recreational indoors since Covid, just outdoor stuff but all adults in the house are now 2 weeks past being double dosed with the vaccine so we're considering it. We're not too bothered now about actually catching it (2 kids in school so we're more likely to be exposed from them than anywhere else) but I hate the idea of having to isolate.

So - if we go to the cinema and then someone else there tests positive, who gets told to isolate? The whole room? Seats around them? It would be at Cineworld who put 2 empty seats either side of you but the website doesn't mention restricting seats behind or in front of you. I can't find any info on who would be told to SI. I don't have the app as my phone is old but obviously it's online booking so they have my info to T&T. If it's the whole room, then I'm not willing to risk it.

I have been to the cinema several times and not been asked for details so they would have no way of contacting me anyway.

Like other forms of indoor mixing I suspect the approaches will be inconsistent. Our cinema is taking details from the main adults booking tickets (and limiting sizes of groups sitting together) but I'm not sure who would be impacted in a track and trace scenario. Give your local cinema a call?

Our cinema asked me to check in on the app when I got there. I don’t think the details they hold on the cinema booking system are used for test and trace. I’m really not sure who would be asked to isolate though.

Thanks. I'll see what the cinema says. It's one of the NW areas with very high rates, I don't know if that makes a difference to how PHE/T&T treat it.

You can check in with the app and have contact tracing disabled.
