Anxious we’re going to miss our holiday

Almost 3 year old at a private nursery. I work full time, as does DP (his dad). We are going away on Saturday for a week. Friends and family have suggested we take him out of nursery now, so that if a bubble bursts we won’t need to self isolate and cancel our holiday.
We’ve already taken next week off for going away, so there’s no way we can justify taking the rest of this week off, as both in key worker positions.
Cases really rising in this area, know of plenty of schools who have bubble closures of late.
Really panicking that we’ll miss out Sad

This is the same up and down the country. The risk that one of you parents may be contacted by track and trace would still be there anyway so I suppose all you can do is hope for the best. Keep everything crossed you get to go 🙏🏻🤞🏼🤞🏼

Have a fab holiday!

FlibbertyGiblets · 29/06/2021 14:01

Are friends and family offering to have him for the remainder of this week? No?

Bigfishlittlefishcardboardbo · 29/06/2021 14:12

@FlibbertyGiblets None of our family lives close enough. Friends all working.

So they are suggesting and encouraging something they can't help with and basically just twisting your melons. It can't be helped so that's that. I'm crossing my fingers that you get away on your holiday and have a great time.

Seesawmummadaw · 29/06/2021 14:16

If you are both work outside of the house it may be one of you that has to isolate.
I assume you knew this when you booked?

Realitea · 29/06/2021 14:19

This is one of the many problems with booking a holiday during a pandemic
It’s just not worth the hassle

ceeveebee · 29/06/2021 14:21

Do you have insurance, so that you could at least get money back? Coverwise and staysure are two that cover self isolation risk

ISaidDontLickTheBin · 29/06/2021 16:04

No advice OP, I'm in a similar situation - due to be going away with extended family at the end of July. 2 DC in nursery (same nursery but separate bubbles so double the chance of a bubble bursting). Not my choice to book it this early in the summer and we don't have the leave to pull the DC out of nursery. Cases are on the up locally and I'm starting to get a sinking feeling about this.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 29/06/2021 16:24

It’s why we see no point booking anything as any of us could have to isolate beforehand not just the children. There seems little joy in a holiday at the moment given cases, lack of SD from many etc.

Watapalava · 29/06/2021 16:26

Nursery act on behalf of track and trace but T&T are not directly involved

Thus if he was asked to isolate and you took him away no one would acfually know

Pleasedontputthatthere · 29/06/2021 16:31

aye, just take him away anyway. If it’s ok for the football…

EasterIssland · 29/06/2021 16:41

I’ve the same problem but I’m flying abroad , today they’ve told us a class in his nursery has bursted … hope we don’t get the call … thinking whether to take him out for a few days …

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 29/06/2021 16:51

I don't know what football has got to do with it

If someone at any sporting event was a contact of someone who later turned out to have a positive test they'd also have to isolate and could avoid that possibility by not going to the sporting event.

If you can't take any more time off work OP all you can do is cross your fingers.

Like a lot of others I know I've decided it's not worth the stress of booking a holiday yet.

ceeveebee · 29/06/2021 17:51

I’m guessing @Pleasedontputthatthere was referring to the fact that a Scottish player tested positive and yet none of the Scottish team had to self isolate, despite sharing training facilities, showers, travelling together etc, whereas the two English players who spent 5 minutes chatting to him in the tunnel afterwards did do…

There's no way I'd have worked that out as no one has had a positive test in the OP's scenario, good mind reading Grin
Pleasedontputthatthere · 29/06/2021 18:03

Well yes but she was asking about if someone does test positive, what will happen to their holiday. I was suggesting that nothing should happen.

A father has taken their child out of school and will be penalised
