Prolonged contact, how likely is it DD has been infected?

DD is having to self isolate with the rest of her year group today after numerous kids in her year group have tested positive. She has had prolonged contact both inside and outside with one of the kids (a friend of hers) how likely is it that she will be infected do you think?
Just in a bit of a panic as although I know DD is likely to be fine I had to shield. I'm double jabbed but still really worried about covid. Can't believe this is all happening again Sad
My DS' primary has eight kids off in his class too after prolonged contact with a positive teacher. We've managed to dodge covid this whole time but feel like our luck is about to run out.

I would do a pcr for all of you if you are isolating and haven e it in both schools

Beebityboo · 28/06/2021 16:00

I would have to send off for a mail one as no car. None of us have symptoms but it seems like both schools are riddled. No idea what to do. The system makes no sense whatsoever.

Well, the research says (!) that you have a 14% chance of being infected after close contact with a positive case. Hope you're all alright Flowers

DH had it (tested positive and has antibodies) we DTD during that time and I still didn't catch it! (Negative test, and later confirmed with no antibodies)

Hopefully you’ll all be ok. Have you got some lateral flow tests that you can take while you wait for the pcr, just to put your mind at rest a little?

Ds has recently finished his 10 day isolation for being close contact with 2 kids in his class. He was sat next to one or both of them for about 50% of his lessons and walks to school with one of them.

He didn't get it- did lateral flows and pcr on day 10- all negative infact our whole family have tested negative.

My DC tested positive and was very unwell for weeks . I spent most nights in their room sleeping with them. I didn’t catch it. I had the antibody test and negative.

It’s possible you’ll be ok but keep all windows open if you can. The higher the ventilation the better.

Looks like negative for both of us, though DD has sensory issues which mean I can only swab her nostrils, so that probably affects the reliability of the result a bit.
