No record of first vaccine

I had my first AZ vaccine just over 9 weeks ago having booked through my gp rather than the online thingy. I had a text from my gp with a link just before my age group became eligible but was just pleased to ge getting it.

I was told at the time that there would be a gap of 11 weeks. Guidance since then has changed to an 8 week gap for over 40's. I hadn't heard anything and the answerphone at the GP's specifically says not to ring them about second dose appointments.

Spotted today that there are walk in clinics running this weekend in my city and you could get a second dose if over 40 and it was over 8 weeks since first dose. I turned up with my little card with batch number but there was no record on the system. I think they believed me but didn't want to jab me as they couldn't record it as a second dose. They advised me to ring my GP surgery on Monday.

I have now downloaded the NHS app but am waiting for the identity verification to go through.

Has anybody else had this issue and managed to resolve it? I am desperate to get my second jab as cases are rising rapidly here.

mine wasn't recorded. I had booked mine through my gp and they could see I had booked it but not that I had recived it.

They emailed someone who sorted it out. Second was recorded fine and now they both show.

@kimlo thanks. I am hoping a quick phone call will sort it.

My NHS app confirmation has come through and it isn't showing on there.

Does it matter?

kimlo · 27/06/2021 09:39

yes it matters for the second one. I had AZ but couldn't have AZ again because I'm under 40 with out the first being recorded, but I also couldn't have pfizer or moderna because I had already had AZ.

NoisyBrain · 27/06/2021 10:02

@Proudpeacock your first jab record could well be the one some utter numpty has put on my record by mistake, alongside the Moderna one I did actually have!

I only discovered this after downloading the app yesterday, having been told at my second jab appointment on Friday that they had me down for AZ, so I couldn't get done.

I expect you'll have to do what I've been told to do and contact your GP to get the record corrected.

I do wonder how widespread vaccine record errors are. We're relying on humans at the vaccine sites correctly inputting thousands of NHS numbers etc. I can imagine how two digits might get transposed for example, and the record goes against the wrong person. What I don't quite understand is how nobody has queried that my record shows I supposedly managed to have two different vaccines on the same day!

Cookerhood · 27/06/2021 19:27

We sort it out at the vaccination centre if you have the batch number of your first one. They can put it on the system.

Just in case anyone has this happen. I rang the gp surgery today then took my card down so they could take a copy and add it to my record. They said it should update in 24 hours then I can book my second one.

Glad you got it sorted, it gives me hope!
My vaccine saga is now even more of a mess. Called my surgery today to explain what’s happened, apparently the manager who cannfeal with it is working tomorrow. I’ve now had a message from the NHS saying my rebooked second jab appointment is being cancelled because ‘records show’ I’ve had both doses!

Pretty frustrated right now…

NoisyBrain · 28/06/2021 19:58

*can deal not cannfeal!

Proudpeacock · 28/06/2021 21:01

@NoisyBrain that must be so frustrating! I hope you get it sorted.

I am just hoping it does update tomorrow as NHS app still claiming I haven't had it.

This also happened to me.

I rang my GP & explained what had happened and they emailed the dept who deal with it & got it sorted.

If you have the card with the batch number of the vaccine you had that is helpful
