Hideous. The idea of being in a situation where you are effectively in detention but don't feel safe is terrifying.

Quarantine is necessary part of keeping control over transmission and the import of new variants, how hard is it do it in a way that doesn't put women at risk?

Yup, I read that earlier. Hope this makes headlines.

FeatheredHope · 26/06/2021 14:49

Depressingly, when I read this, my very first thought was “I’m not even remotely surprised”.

Nightbear · 26/06/2021 14:50

Snap Feathered Hope.

Not surprised given who has employed the guards.

I think if we had introduced hotel quarantine in March or April 2020, some of this would have been avoided, as existing hotel staff would have retained their jobs, not put on furlough, and local restaurants could have provided food if the hotel kitchen could not cater for all meals. Existing staff who are known about.

I hadn’t seen which company it was, but as soon as I saw your comment NewNortherner111 I though, must be G4S Grin. I’m old enough to remember their incompetence when they still went by Group 4 Security.

Me three @Nightbear and @FeatheredHope. How sad is that? I absolutely expected to read something like this.

Those poor women must have been worried to go to sleep at night.

yup like PPs I soon as I read it I thought, well of course this happens regularly - toxic scenario of shitty men being given a whiff of power.

Hopefully as others have said now it's being reported widely there will be measures put in place to prevent it and hold anyone involved accountable

"He said, 'Can I take a photo of us together?' and I said, 'No, I'm in my pyjamas and I'm supposed to be quarantining,' and he said, 'It's OK, I'm negative,'" Marie says.

"I took a step back into my room and he stepped towards me and said, 'Can I have a hug?' and he was coming towards my room. I was pretty panicked and quickly shut the door.

Disgusting and incompetent to boot! The point of these woman quarantining isn't your COVID status mate.

I can’t imagine how scary it must’ve been for these poor women.

Undersnatch · 26/06/2021 21:04

Horrible, frightening, what some men will do in any situation possible - there needs to be safeguards before someone is raped.

That is a depressing read. Why would anyone feel ok to do this to anyone. Standard needs to be way higher than that.
