What is the situation with masks in the country you're in?

I know US has advised people who have been jabbed to ditch masks, but I am curious about other countries.

Does your country have any plans to drop the mask mandate any time soon? Are you in a country where you have to wear masks outside as well as inside? Is mask compliance high?

Israel had dropped them 2 weeks ago and is now reversing that decision as cases have risen so quickly. From Sunday they back.

I'm in Belgium and we haven't had to wear masks outside for the last few weeks, apart from in busy areas, markets etc. Still obligatory in shops, on public transport. I've never seen anyone without one, so either people don't have the same exemptions here or they stay at home.

UberMullet · 26/06/2021 10:56

Over 6s had to wear them at school for the whole of the last year.

TheGenealogist · 26/06/2021 10:58

Masks outside is just lunacy.

elQuintoConyo · 26/06/2021 11:03

In Spain it's been masks from the minute you leave your home until you return. As of today, you only need masks in shops or spaces where you cannot keep 1.5m distance.

I've already walked the dog twice Grin

Italy. Masks still to be worn inside and outside but from Monday you can remove them outdoors when distancing is possible. V high compliance indoors and people are swiftly reprimanded by shop staff if the mask isn't fully covering nose and mouth. Outdoor compliance has been rapidly waning with the arrival of summer and v v low case numbers locally.

TheClaws · 26/06/2021 11:21

In NSW< Australia, we've just resumed wearing them in all indoor settings (except our own homes). This is after a break (for my particular region) of about a year or so.

TheAirbender · 26/06/2021 11:30

Still worn everywhere outside of home. Kids over six wear them at school.

alwayscrashinginthesamecar1 · 26/06/2021 11:32

Western Australia, haven't had to wear one since about May last year

Sgtmajormummy · 26/06/2021 11:36

Italy here too (NE). I can not wait for Monday when we can go for a walk outside without a mask. We’ll still need to carry one for going indoors or

NannyAndJohn · 26/06/2021 11:43

Very worrying about Israel.

Just goes to show what we're up against with Delta.

The UK post-19th July is going to be carnage unless Johnson realises the severity of the situation (which he won't).

Norabuzz · 26/06/2021 11:51

Singapore: masks are here to stay! We have to wear them always when outside the home, except when during strenuous exercise or for children under 5 (I think) / medical issues etc. In pre-COVID times, Singaporeans would wear masks if they had a cold for example to stop potential spreading of germs so they were early adopters of the mask. We'll likely have mandatory mask rules for at least another 12 months.

Newcastleteacake · 26/06/2021 11:56

Victoria, Australia here. Changes constantly. At the moment it's masks on indoors and off outdoors. Just a week or so ago it was indoors and outdoors so it changes all the time depending on the situation.

NaughtyPrudence · 26/06/2021 12:06

Italy, Lombardia. Mandatory indoors and outdoors from the moment you step outside your house, however places in a 'white zone' from Monday don't need them in outdoor open spaces. I don't think it'll last as Delta is on the up and I expect to be in a Yellow, Orange or Red zone again sooner or later. In my small town (population 45k) I think I've only ever seen a handful of people (teens) not wearing one since Feb 2020, never seen anyone without one in a shop, they'd refuse you entry. I'm not ready to stop using mine yet now that Delta's here.

Waves to fellow Italians (esp Sgt who I recognize from early Covid days!)

Bought (hopefully) my last packet of 10 yesterday. I have the FFP2s but they're fecking tight in this heat.

As above, compliance has always been high. Cases are low. Double jabbed, DD is 17 and has jab booked, looking forward to travelling in July. Smile

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 26/06/2021 13:36

Germany spec. Berlin We are down to a 5,9 "7 day incidence" level - FFP2 still compulsory in indoor places (schools, shops, museums, croweded spaces, public transport etc.) + sd 1,5m. relaxations are planned for the under 16 (to medical masks).

HerRoyalNotness · 26/06/2021 13:42

We’re on a road trip in the US and tbh everyone has dropped masks where we’ve been through. The only ones who wear them seem to be the shop staff and servers in restaurants. It’s like nothing has happened and the past 18mths has been a dream, very weird.

AgentProvocateur · 26/06/2021 13:51

UAE (Dubai) - worn everywhere inside and outside. Can take them off when sitting in a cafe or restaurant while eating and drinking. That’s all. I think schoolkids have to wear them too. They only people you see unmasked are tourists.

Sgtmajormummy · 26/06/2021 14:23

👋@Geamhradh
Our DD has her vaccination on 1/7. With the 5 week interval we’ll be traveling for our August holiday the day after she gets her second dose. Not ideal but no earlier slots.
