Has your dc's school gone back to masks in class?

Just that really

My sons' school has decided to go back to masks in class and I wondered whether many other schools were doing the same

I understand the reasoning behind it (rising cases locally etc) but it feels like such a backward step, particularly with all the talk about opening up, big events taking place etc

Yeah, not far from one of the initial delta outbreaks here, so i think they had a week with no masks.

My kids school never stopped them. Outer London

Shieldingending · 26/06/2021 22:16

Lancashire - continued to wear them following advice from director of public health

AnneElliott · 26/06/2021 22:52

Yes they only had them off for a week and then went back to them. They've had lots of kids off with positive tests and isolating. London borough.

My daughter’s school never stopped them and we were told that they will be reviewing every 2weeks and a lot of parents voted for the masks to stay in place and so far no cases in school for few months.

No but we've never had any cases (no idea how we've avoided it!) so it doesn't seem important to wear them. Complacency.

DumplingsAndStew · 27/06/2021 01:44

We never stopped wearing them, because that was a stupid decision.

Agree with 'RafaIsTheKingOfClay' and in the same situation as '1happyhippie' in Cumbria. My eldest is just coming out of a 10 day isolation period tomorrow after a few in her year group tested positive. Wish they hadn't stopped wearing them but, yes, back to having to now.

remindmewhyidothis · 27/06/2021 14:22

Yes, from Monday (Bristol).

My dc's school haven't even stopped. I'm glad the school is so sensible. We are not even in hot spots.

I don't think it's backwards, really, they shouldn't have stopped in the first place. Do the best to minimise spread is way better than multiple isolation.

Nootkah · 27/06/2021 23:45

Schools in our county never stopped , thank goodness. I genuinely dont understand the resistance to masks!

I'm in Hampshire and we haven't gone back to wearing them and I really hope we don't. My DS really really struggled and his learning went downhill.
