Lateral flow test best of three! Roll up, place your bets etc.

Did my usual lateral flow test this morning. Checked it at 20 mins and it was negative. Got stuck on a long call, came back to it nearly two hours after I’d taken it and there was a very faint positive line.

Did another test, checked at 30 minutes, and it’s negative.

Did another test (best of three!) and waiting for the results. Do we think positive or negative? Do I believe the very faint late positive or the on-time negative? (I say this knowing the tests aren’t really that reliable so there’s no good answer to that question!)

Oh, I should say I have no typical covid symptoms. And rationally I know that you’re not supposed to check them after 30 minutes, but as I didn’t actually see it at 30 mins thanks to the phone call, it could have been positive then...

I’m fairly sure the others would say positive if one did. Isn’t like a pregnancy test and can show a false positive after a long time?

You could always back it up with a pcr to be sure.

What’s weird though is that I’m an absolute slattern and occasionally don’t throw away mine (or ds’s!) for an hour.. or two.. after we’ve done them and I’ve never seen one turn positive before.

The second one hasn’t turned positive, and the faint positive on the first one has now pretty much vanished. Weird!

We got told not to read them after 30 mins as not accurate any longer.

Mine always show a positive line after the 30 minute mark no one can confirm why and this has happened every test since Feb/March it's a mystery and it definitely doesn't happen to anyone else in my house!

I’ve heard that too itstheprinciple so I was trying not to overthink it (not doing that very well, as you can see! ) It’s just the window between 20 mins and 30 mins that I didn’t see - did the line pop up then or after? I’ll never know. At least the two negative tests after helped me relax!

piggypong that’s so weird! It can’t be the batch of tests if it’s consistent, and if it’s not happening to anyone else in your house. You must have magical mucus

There like pregnacy tests after the 30min wait it will be an evap line
