Test and trace says I've been in contact with someone positive on a weekend I never left the house

Can anyone advise? It says I came into close contact with someone 4 days ago (which would be Monday). We didn't leave the house, no one came to or from the house, even for deliveries, and we have both worked from home all week. Kids are at their dads and haven't been over (coming tonight).

Could this be an error?

A thread like the pops up almost every day and the general advice is always the same, to ignore it

Was it the app or did they call you?

If it was a call can't you ask for more details because you haven't left the house?

Cookerhood · 25/06/2021 10:41

Do you live in a flat or a terraced house etc? If someone the other side of the wall tests positive it can ping you if you are talking about the app. If it is the app, I don't think it's a legal requirement. If it was the test & trace people & they say it was Monday & you didn't go out it must be a mistake. Deliveries?

Was it the app or a call?

You can legally ignore the app, but not calls, so it makes a big difference.

'It says' rather than 'they said' couples with the fact you didn't have the opportunity to question it makes me think you got an app notification - ignore.

Alicetheowl · 25/06/2021 10:44

Does the message actually have your name? A lot of places are taking mobile numbers, in some cases these are written down on a sheet of paper if people haven't downloaded the app. Wrong number, people mistaking a 7 for a 1?

ifonly4 · 25/06/2021 10:49

The app told DD she had contact on the Thursday (possible as she went out for breakfast and then caught a train). However, three people (a couple and later a separate friend) she saw on the Wednesday all tested positive the day before she was notified. Did you go anywhere on the Sunday, or even for a walk you've forgotten about?

someusernameorother · 25/06/2021 11:06

Yes. Turn off test and trace. It's useless. Isolate if you have symptoms.

CyberGhost · 25/06/2021 11:20

Sorry, I didn't realise this was a daily thread occurrence.

Yes it was the app. I guess I will ignore it. No symptoms and we all tested negative this week anyway (I have to test us all weekly for work).

Nope, didn't leave the house at all and haven't since Friday last week!

Thanks for all your help! I'll be uninstalling it.
