Surely travel to party places like Ibiza, Menorca, Mallorca is problematic?

They've all been put on the 'green list' meaning travellers won't have to quarantine on the return.

But surely the problem with a lot of these places isn't the Covid level in the country itself but that people will see this 'green light' and go there to party in large groups and spread their British Covid between them all and then bring it back?!

I don't know if you've noticed but people are partying right here in the U.K. with the euros going on. What exactly is British covid as well?

LightasaBreeze · 25/06/2021 06:28

Maybe they will all wear football shirts, Scotland fans came to London to party, that was seemingly ok. There isn't a British variant unless you mean the Alpha one.

niceupthedance · 25/06/2021 06:30

The big clubs in Ibiza are still shut
A lot of bars and restaurants are outside

SexTrainGlue · 25/06/2021 06:44

It doesn't really matter where a variant originate here, it just needs be be circulating here more than in the holiday destination countries.

is If Brits are partying beyond what is permitted locally, and posing a risk of spreading latest variant around, then UK will go on to that countries' equivalent of amber/red lists and then it'll be a case of quarantine on arrival or no arrivals at all.

insancerre · 25/06/2021 06:47

Menorca is not a party place

Ylvamoon · 25/06/2021 06:57

Breaking News: Omega also known as Magaluf variant spreads like wildfire! Vaccine only effective after 5th top up dose.
Politicians looking into 8th lockdown as cases double every 3 weeks....

CrappyBirthday2Me · 25/06/2021 07:09

I’m not talking about a variant. I’m saying why does it matter at all what the virus level is in a country known for British people to go to and mix in large groups with British people? Feels like spectacularly missing the point.

I don’t agree about the football either but one terrible failure to contain the virus does not excuse another.

Go on holiday: but dont you dare enjoy yourself! Especially if you are young!

BarbaraofSeville · 25/06/2021 07:18

It's probably only a minority of people who go to the Spanish islands, or Malta, Madeira etc are there to 'party'.

Lots of families and older couples, groups, singles go there to relax, eat in outside restaurants, go to the beach, swim in the sea, watersports and all sorts of other activities that are low risk from a COVID perspective.

If the clubs are shut, people won't be clubbing anyway will they? Perhaps broaden your mind outside the tired, dull and inaccurate Mallorca = Magaluf = party central stereotype, eh?

Imnothereforthedrama · 25/06/2021 07:29

@insancerre

Menorca is not a party place
Completely missing the point .
Ylvamoon · 25/06/2021 07:31

@CrappyBirthday2Me it's called sarcasm. As in why the neck did anyone allow travel over the summer? That includes UK and EU.

bellamountain · 25/06/2021 08:03

@insancerre

Menorca is not a party place
Mahon is pretty lively, wouldn't mind being there now as it goes.
Dumpypumpy · 25/06/2021 09:39

Dont these places have a lot of restrictions/mask wearing/bar curfews. It’s not going to be like the good old days. If people are allowed to sit and watch the sunset at cafe mambo and listen to some decent tunes then good for them. But its not going to be foam parties in the super clubs. I think they even have to wear masks on the beach in Spain

QuentininQuarantino · 25/06/2021 10:05

As of tomorrow no more masks outdoors in Spain!
