Is everyone who has been contacted by Test and Trace being offered the chance to participate in the daily contact testing study?

Specifically, I mean people in England who are a close contact of a positive case, have been instructed to self-isolate by the Test and Trace service (not the app) but do not have symptoms?

Nope. Only if you’re a Government minister...

yeahdarling · 24/06/2021 19:58

I'd like to be part of this trial. Is there a way to register? How do people get selected?

FullyJabbed · 24/06/2021 20:00

And me! I obviously have friends in high places that I didn't know about! Grin

I was contacted yesterday, as was the rest of the household (minus the infected one)

Mumski45 · 24/06/2021 20:01

I was invited and did take part, so did DH. We both got put in the daily testing group. It worked well for us and we never tested positive when DS1 had it a few weeks ago.

I asked if I could be and was sent the link to apply but it said areas that were Delta hotspots weren't eligible. Not sure if it's changed within last couple of weeks?

FullyJabbed · 24/06/2021 20:06

I got an email about it shortly after the email notifying me that I had to self-isolate. I had a 50% chance of being allocated to the group that had to continue self-isolating and 50% chance of doing daily testing for 24 hours out of self-isolation and I struck lucky,

I'm in an Enhanced Response Area so it might have changed.

Most people are being invited- there are people that are ineligible - from when I did it they were.

Who can take part
People who are traced as contacts can take part if they:

do not have COVID-19 symptoms
live in England
are not in full-time education
are aged 18 and over
are not under the quarantine rules for arriving in England
are in in an area where VOC are identified

ChristmasCovid · 24/06/2021 20:14

That should say are not in an area where VOC are identified 🤦

yeahdarling · 24/06/2021 20:26

That's really helpful. Thanks

yeahdarling · 24/06/2021 20:28

Is delta a VOC?

I have spoken to test and trace about this today. Awaiting PCR results as my DD has positive LFT yesterday
I am double vaccinated and DD can isolate outside main home so I called to ask if I could do daily LFT and goto work as a key worker.
I had to speak to 5 different people until I got to someone who knew something about it. I have to wait until PCR test is confirmed to try and get on this. At one point I did ask why Michael Gove could do this and I couldn't to which there was a repeat of government guidelines. I did then ask if he was more important than me so that qualified him to be treated differently and I was transfered to some-one who was able to help further. TBH talking to test and trace was very disturbing - the people seem to know very little. One was confused by LFT and PCR tests getting them muddled and another said we shouldn't have tested as DD didn't have any of the 3 standard symptoms -cough, temperature and loss of taste. No-one had any knowledge that the new variant has different symptoms.

The only person I know who is currently a household member of a positive case was invited, yes. But he declined.

I believe (might be wrong) until the result lft result is confirmed by a positive pcr and you are named as a contact - you will not be in the system as a ‘contact’. If the pcr is positive t&t will be in touch for the + person’s information regarding their close contacts - if you are named as a contact you would be eligible if you meet the above criteria.

Sorry about the typos ^ I’m knackered - off to bed.

DH has just signed up for it. His occupational health dept have asked him to do it. He's a fairly senior HCP and they just cant cope with the ammount of staff being asked to isolate.
