Are drop in vaccine clinics only for first doses?

Just that really. My local one is doing two drop in Pfizer evenings but it doesn’t say.

I’m pregnant and would like my second sooner.

Not round us they're not. All the Pfizer clinics specify they're for first doses or second doses provided you're a minimum of 8 weeks post first jab.

Ours are for AZ second doses so far (for those who've struggled to reschedule appointments) I think nots due to be opened up soon

@Girlmama3 Depends on your area I think OP! I’m in Scotland and our area has just made all clinics drop ins for first and second doses. You can walk into any and get your second dose of Pfizer provided it’s at least 55 days since your first dose 😊

I’m in West Yorkshire & ours are for first or second vaccines, so long as 3 weeks since Pfizer & 8 weeks since AZ. But we are a hot spot area so I’m guessing they are trying to surge vaccinate. There are 25+ walk ins in our LA over the next week, it’s mad!

I can only speak for the one I went to: they accepted everyone.
2nd dose & pg people had a priority line

amicissimma · 23/06/2021 22:52

The one I usually volunteer in was doing appointments only for Pfizer and appointments or walk ins for AZ, which was practically all 2nd doses.

But it changes frequently and is different in other places.

Thanks everyone. Maybe I’ll give it a go and see what happens 😀

Yes.

I was due to go to the next town for my booked second dose but I got a text saying my regular GP surgery were doing a drop in.

They checked the database that I'd had AZ and then did the second dose.

The hub I work at was doing drop in for all 1st and 2nd doses 8+ weeks. I know some hubs are only doing earlier 2nd doses to those over 40 (as per gov announcement) some are allowing any age to come forward earlier. And by earlier that means being eligible at 8 weeks instead of the initial 12 week period. Anyone before 8 weeks would be turned away.

If you are wanting yours earlier as it coincides with the time your due to give birth maybe, call your GP maybe they can request your appointment sooner. Only a GP referral would be a reason for someone getting their 2nd dose before 8 weeks, that's the case in my area anyway, yours could be different.
