Surge testing in my area. What to do....

Surge testing is now taking place in my area due to the number of delta variant cases.

I had my second vaccine but only 4 days ago.

I usually take my daughter to a Tumble Tots class on a Thursday morning.

Adults wear masks but children don’t distance.

Not sure if it’s best to avoid going and wait until my second vaccine has taken affect.

If anything surge testing makes things safer as more people are tested so less likely to be spreading it asymptomatically. Only you know whether it's worth the risk to you.

So you took her last week before you had your second jab? If so I don't see the problem in going this week, cases must have been high in your area last week if they are surge testing this week and you've been fine. Shame for your daughter to miss out if she enjoys it.

We had surge testing and our numbers didn't turn out to be that high. Think they were concerned about how fast it was spreading rather than the number of cases here and in the end it slowed down. Agree surge testing probably makes it a little safer as if everyone is going for surge testing, they're more likely to catch asymptomatic cases of covid.

@mog27

Yes I did take her last week, but cases aren’t really that “high” 80/100k which is actually a lot lower than the surrounding areas.

There is surge testing in my area which has been going on a few weeks.

They told everyone over 40 to only leave 8 weeks between first and second jab. They also arranged walk-in clinics so you could get a second jab. (I was second jabbed the day after I got he email about surge testing and read it in the news.)

They also asked for those 11- 24, particularly 19-24 to come forward for a test. Now in the final week they are asking for older adults to come forward.

Incidentally I know someone in the age group they are targeting for testing who tested positive. However I've not been tested.
