60,000 people per day - and our kids? :(

It was announced last night that under a "special and exciting" deal, London (Wembley) would play host to the semi-finals and final of the Euros now - 60,000 people at each match, using 80%+ of capacity. Straight away we had the Germans, EU and the WHO question the decision. But, here we go again...

..we are told that everyone will be checked for two vaccinations before entry but, come on, all those of us that have attended football internationals before know that it usually becomes a free-for-all (even if not admitted) beyond a certain point.

So 180,000 people into Wembley is fine, but my kids have had their end of year activities cancelled and my DD just had her "welcome" day to her new school cancelled. Then we had a case in the school last week, sending everyone back to school from home.

Is anyone else confused? Is it just me? WTF decision making is going on now. We are only having this upswing because the Government allowed another 30,000 back from India while it hesitated again. Then of course we welcomed the G7 and all of their people. Now the Euros. But our kids are still put through the wringer - again.

I am a football fan and want this all to go back to normal, but I feel like we shoot ourselves in the foot (and face) every chance we get.

Are you suggesting they get bored checking people's tickets and anyone can just swan in? Those with double vaccines elsewhere have been able to go about life with relative normality, here though at the risk of offending the unaccounted people have to stick to the same rules, it's boring.

Society needs to open up but what we have are 2 extremes throwing caution to the wind at one end - allowing mass gathering events, with internationally traveling attendees and at the other extreme parents banned from walking round a field to watch their child's sports day, families unable to visit family that live abroad because they can't afford to self isolate on return, no dancing at weddings, covid negative children being sent home from school to stay in their house for 10 days because they shared a classroom with 1 positive case.

There must be some inbetween to this.

I really encourage everyone to write to their MP about this. It’s a travesty.

The vaccinated should NOT be given freedom privileges before kids who are not yet allowed be vaccinated. All that will do is create non compliance and anger amongst parents.

It’s a slap in the face to every parent and child affected by restrictions and those who have followed the rules. What for? Football!! Tweet, email and write to your MPs
