My DS took a test last night and it was negative after 30mins. Great. Looked again a bit later and it had a very very thin, feint line in the positive bit.
This has happened twice on separate tests.
What do we think??

Lateral flow? I haven’t notice them. Can he test again?

LIZS · 23/06/2021 08:46

They are invalid after 45 minutes, so negative result still stands. We have ours from two weeks ago but no discernible line now or then.

Whatalota · 23/06/2021 09:12

We did 3 altogether. 2 had the feint lines. He’s got an appointment this morning at a test centre, so all will be revealed soon(I hope!) would be very unlucky if he did have it. He had covid last year, and he’s had both vaccinations

Yeah in that case you’ve done the right thing booking a PCR to be sure

If he has it, are the you get DC still ok to go and stay with their dad, or do they need to stay with me?

My son's had this this week, looked negative then started to look pink in the area of the result but no line, after an hour it looked like a faint line but this is too late to read a result. Tested again and negative.

MardiBras · 23/06/2021 11:00

I’ve had this happen a couple of times where a very faint line has appeared after a few hours. It was negative at 30 minutes. On each occasion I took another lateral flow test which were negative so I didn’t bother getting a pcr test.

The whole house has to isolate if one person is covid positive.

Whatalota · 23/06/2021 11:16

So they aren’t allowed to go to their dads, even if they don’t have symptoms?

Panic over. It came back negative

JanFebAnyMonth · 25/06/2021 00:04

Glad it was negative

For future reference, they would have been allowed to go to their dad’s, child contact is allowed whatever else is happening, but it may not be advisable.
