How many of the temperature check screen things have you encountered?

It's a screen where it scans you and then shows your temperature. I've gone through one in a cafe and one in a restaurant. Just wondering how common they are as it seems easy enough and a pretty good idea, assuming they work.

Never seen one. Been scanned with a hand-held thing at the dentists and blood donor session. That's it.

Maddermax · 22/06/2021 10:48

I haven't had my temperature taken anywhere.

Only encountered these at the hospital, dentist, optician.

DD was being treated in a private hospital, they had them there, ear checks at a and e though. Also our local garden centre.

There was one at the gym recently. I am apparently dead.

Only one, in a furniture shop. Nowhere else.

No temperature checks in Sydney except for hospitals. We need to scan a qr code with our phones when we go to most business - cafes, restaurants, movies, theaters etc. It takes a second to register we've been in the business for track and trace.

Do you mean ever, or in this week.

I'm not in UK and they are quite common. Twice today alone. Once at one of my clients and the other taking dd for an appointment.

I think they are way more accurate than the hand held shoot and point once than usually register me at about 32 degrees 🤔

I think they are a waste of time. DH uses one at work. On hot days they've had to send people to sit in the shade for half an hour and retest them before allowing them in the building as they were hot when they arrived.
I've been tested by a hand held one on entry to the gym - until I stopped going as they weren't following social distancing rules - a far bigger problem. I went to an outdoor performance last week and had my temperature taken on my wrist on the way in. Totally pointless as the whole performance was outdoors with loads of space. I'd attended an event at the same venue a couple of weeks previous and there were no temperature checks. It was the individual theatre group rather than the venue that were doing the checks.
