Last night I took myself to A&E.
I just couldn’t cope with the feeling of not wanting to be here. The anxiety of getting my second AstraZeneca. The anxiety of getting Covid and it killing me.

It just all got too much and I was petrified I was having a breakdown.

I’ve been given some medication, but best of all, they are allowing me to have a second dose of Pfizer!!

The relief I feel 😭😭

Are you starting a full Pfizer course or just having a single dose?

@ColettesEarrings

Single dose. It’s only been 14 weeks since AZ.

Me too. I know it’s not the end of my mental health issues. But at least it’s one thing less to worry about.
I’m under secondary mental health care now and hopefully I’ll get the support I need.

Congrats hope this gives you some peace 💐

I’m in Canada, where mixing doses is recommended. My first was AZ and I had my second shot (Pfizer) a week ago.

I’m also in Alberta, where over 70% of the eligible population (12+) have received at least one dose. All provincial restrictions are being lifted on 1 July.

Notthemessiah · 21/06/2021 14:30

Nice to know that it is at least possible, but the process you had to go through in order to get it! Especially when it is a normal thing in so many other countries.

I hope that this indicates a broader change in policy is coming. I'm not as stressed as you are\were but I would still love to have the pfizer as a second dose as I'm still not prepared to have a second AZ at the moment. I can't imagine we are the only ones either.

How did you feel? Any side effects?

I felt awful after my AZ.

OP posts:
MooseBeTimeForSummer · 21/06/2021 17:38

A slightly sore arm after the AZ. I felt a bit rough 24-36 hours after the Pfizer but a hot bath, some Tylenol and an early night sorted that out.

I hope you find some peace of mind and can relax a bit now and look to the future x

Onthegrapevine · 22/06/2021 11:24

I have read that so far the only data available is regarding this exact scenario. In Spain or Germany they tested it and found that boosting one dose of AZ with an mRNA was safe an effective.

This is why you have been allowed to have it.

Angela Merkel receives Moderna as second jab after AstraZeneca shot www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-57571791

PurplePumpkinDream · 22/06/2021 23:12

It’s so annoying that us older ones had to have the AZ no other choice, unless you refused the second dose! Mixes were not allowed nor deemed effective or even safe. While it’s good they’ve finally got something sorted for the younger groups, I feel somewhat cheated, all that worry and waiting for the danger period to be over for myself and my partner!

Jabbinell · 23/06/2021 08:41

I agree @PurplePumpkinDream those in their 40s have been fucked over
