I might have to isolate (my friend started with symptoms today and I saw her yesterday). I have a job interview on Tuesday and on top of that it’s my birthday this week and I have a friend travelling 200 miles to stay in hotel (all booked) to visit me. I’m keeping my fingers crossed she has a negative result, but I assume she might be positive as it’s prevalent in our area at the moment.

I really don’t want to lose out on the job, I feel like crying. I worked really hard to get this interview.

I'm not sure why you think you were stupid. You saw your friend before she was ill.

The rules on isolation are definitely different if you're outside but I don't think it necessarily gets you out of it.

If T&T call you then you are legally bound to do it.

Regarding the job interview, I would contact them and explain the situation and offer to do it on zoom. Given the circumstances if they're not accommodating (the other option is to delay for a week I suppose) I probably wouldn't want to work there tbh.

Someone I know had to isolate. He went out into his very large garden for a walk and got a call - now I’m not saying they’re definitely tracking phones but…!

I know lots of people who have had to isolate that didn't go outside and got a call.

Still not heard anything from my friend or from T&T. She had her test done at 10am yesterday morning. My interview is tomorrow morning, it’ll be a bit late to reschedule or ask to do a virtual one if I don’t hear until this evening!

I thought the tests came back pretty quick nowadays?

Mine recent one was around 30 hours, got pushed Thursday afternoon, heard back late Friday night.

Have you contacted your friend to ask or to ask how she is or if she needs anything dropped off?

I'm sure she'll get her results back today, fingers crossed for you OP!

I know 4 people this past week who all had covid tests due to coughs and temperatures and they were all negative. There seems to be something else doing the rounds at the moment.
