Vaccinated not to isolate if close contact

Did I just hear this on the radio that the vaccinated won't have to isolate if they're a close contact any more. If so, that's great. Just completed one period of isolation while self employed and although the rest was nice I'm a bit skint now and dreading it happening again when I had a really low risk of contracting it from the contact.

I'm taking part in a study on this atm. DH has tested positive with LFT and PCR, mine were negative, altho we've both only had 1 vaccine

I was given the option to volunteer for a study (no guarantee I'd be picked) that would make me test every day, and I'd be allowed out if negative

I have to do another PCR (still negative) and 7 days of lateral flows (so far all negative) and then a PCR after final lateral flow

You have to submit results daily - if you get a negative you get a confirm email saying you're allowed out

No advice on kids tho, so whilst technically I can go out, we're still stuck with very young DS off school which isn't helping with work!

This is proposed only for England.

Let’s hope it’s not brought in until case numbers there are much lower.

@Frazzled2207

We have to eventually move away from self isolations, except for those actually ill. However if we’re going to have to do tests instead, I’m ok with this but it’s totally insane to suggest that only those vaccinated get to do the tests and those not vaccinated have to stay at home. How on earth would that ever be enforced and how could they make you do the tests in any case? As pp said this is the system in the US (not sure about the tests) and there is zero enforcement.
I think it should be that everyone do tests. Being vaccinated does not mean you can't spread Covid, and not being vaccinated does not mean you are spreading it everywhere.

Test everyone, regardless of vaccine.

@XenoBitch

Not sure I would be happy mingling with someone who was identified as a close contact but was deemed to be safe because they were vaccinated.
But you could be doing that now and not know? Eg a friend visiting tonight, hears they were a close contact tomorrow.

Where does it end?

X post Xeno

Test everyone where?

I thought you were one of the more rational posters, are you testing the water or taking the piss?

LadyCatStark · 19/06/2021 21:56

This is great but I agree they need to wait until everyone has had the opportunity to be vaccinated and they need to think about how to include children in this. People who have chosen not to have the vaccination will have to deal with the consequences.
