Delta variant - advice from those who've had it?

Hi,

My DS who has flown the nest is now on day 5 of illness. He started with a sore throat on Monday which developed into a headache and body ache in the afternoon. He took a PCR which was positive the same day. He continued to get worse and last night developed a cough and shortness of breath.

Can anyone share symptoms and duration? He hasn't lost his sense of taste or smell (yet).

He lives alone so I'm a tad concerned. He's had a socially distanced delivery from the supermarket so has food. He just can't stand upright long enough to make anything Sad

Thanks for responding.

he needs to lie on his stomach - proning. that will help him get more air into his lungs. if the shortness of breath gets worse - he should call his gp/or go to hospital. thats my experience of COVID from a family member. I had Delta variant a few weeks ago and didnt get the shortness of breath, it was more like a severe flu despite first jab in march

this video is a really good example of how he can help himself when the shortness of breath gets too much

Can you order him a pulse odometer, £13, cheapest, but equally reliable than more expensive ones.
By far the biggest red flag of deterioration is a dropping oxygen saturation, measured by this device. Really important, I've ordered one each for my three Tv's, now living away. They need to record > 94%.
You just attach it to your index finger, ( nail varnish can arrange the reading btw)

Thanks all!

I sent him a link to buy and an oximeter yesterday. So hopefully that will arrive today. Ironically he tested positive the day he was due to be vaccinated. Confused
