Moderna 2nd vaccine: can’t get an earlier date! Anyone tried just turning up?

At a quiet time obviously, maybe mid week…

I got mine done at AFC Wimbledon but cannot seem to get ANY earlier date for the 2nd. I’m eligible from next week as 8 weeks will have passed.

I’ve spoken to 119 who were lovely but couldn’t find an earlier slot. They said keep trying every few days.

I’m just wondering though if I turned up at a quiet time maybe I would be ok? Obviously as they’re now doing over 18s I assume they have stocks of Pfizer and Moderna (tho maybe not both?) but does that just mean they will use them up quicker and have no capacity for a walk-in??! Or will the increased demand mean there is increased supply?

So frustrating as I really really want to get this 2nd shot!!

I was half considering doing the same. I haven't yet dared try to cancel my 2nd appointment to try for a quicker appt, in case I end up with something worse. So I wondered if I turned up towards the end of the day they might have some left over. I'd be more confident of this if I'd had Pfizer or AZ, but I had moderna which I've heard there's lower stocks of. Also I think they have different types of vaccine each day, so would possibly be completely pointless turning up if they weren't even doing moderna that day!

Are you able to travel to other locations? Guys Centre 1 at London Bridge is doing Moderna as are some pharmacies now (those were offered to me as options when I changed my appointment time - although mine is not due until July).

Yep I have my second booked for mid July…

Can definitely travel somewhere else… the system won’t let me check other locations though…

I don't know what it's like in England but I'm in Scotland and stupidly showed up a day early for mine and they wouldn't take me. They're being extremely strict
