Is it okay to have only a 7 week gap between AZ jabs?

I can book my second jab online for a slot now but it will only be 7 weeks since my first. By not being within the 8 to 12 week usual waiting time, would this impact on the effectiveness of the jab? Sorry, may be being dim Confused

It will be fine. Go for it

It does, but not by much.

If you are in a hotspot area and you haven’t had it already, it’s probably worth considering as one shot is only around 30% effective.

You’re not being dim OP I thought the same thing too. It’s only been 4 weeks since I had mine yet I’ve been told I can bring mine forward. I thought the gap was for a reason too. I thought it was minimum 8 weeks between them for the vaccine to be properly effective.

I'm sure it's fine. I tried to (was encouraged to) get my 2nd sooner but wasn't possible so have to wait the full 11 weeks.

We were told anything after 4 weeks is OK, availability seems to be 8 weeks after as an average though

It is fine. We had them moved to 12 weeks to allow more people to be vaccinated but still be in the optimum window. I know many who have been vaccinated within 4 weeks as we have been surge vaccinating across the North West. They will allow you to just turn up for your second dose (both Astra and Pfizer) after 4 weeks at the vaccine buses around here.

Thanks everyone, it's now booked for midday today, wow! X
