Rebooking 2nd Pfizer- can now check availability first

NoliteTeBastardesCarborundorum · 17/06/2021 21:54

I am mid 30s and just managed to rebook my second Pfizer jab on the national booking website for 8 weeks after my first instead of 11.

I know lots of people are anxious about having to cancel before being able to check the availability of new slots: they appear to have added a new feature so you can check the availability before confirming the cancellation- see pic.

Hope this helps.

Hi has anyone managed to find earlier appointments for moderna in Londin area? Thanks 😁

Whitewolf2 · 18/06/2021 06:59

I tried this as my appointment is 10weeks to see if could get earlier but it keeps saying there is no availability at the Center I booked at, which seems odd as I only a few days ago and there seemed to be loads of options, just 10-11 weeks away. Is it a glitch? I don’t want to cancel to find out!

Bobholll · 18/06/2021 07:03

@ChipsAreLife - you need the booking reference from your original booking. That worked for me?

Girlmama3 · 18/06/2021 07:28

Thank you so much op! I’m pregnant and have been desperate to move mine earlier, I’ve just done it by 2 weeks!

Butterflyinglow · 18/06/2021 10:00

This is brilliant, thanks OP. Does anyone know if it only lets you see availability for the next 5 days? I’d like to change mine from 12 weeks to 8 weeks, but it’s only showing me slots in the next 5 days (I’m only 5 weeks post dose 1 so would prefer to book for 3 weeks’ time)

ComDummings · 18/06/2021 10:15

Thanks for clarifying OP, I clicked the cancel button and saw availability sooner so managed to get my DH an earlier appointment!

penguin2z · 18/06/2021 10:22

Hi all
Are these for moderna or pfizer? Struggling to get earlier appts for
Moderna anyone else? Thanks

VaccineSticker · 18/06/2021 11:05

Doesn’t work for us. It still says you need to cancel first then rebook a new appointment.
Pretty rubbish.

Crackingowlsanctuary · 18/06/2021 11:52

Did you try pressing the cancel button @VaccineSticker? Because it only shows availability at your venue after you press it (but it doesn’t actually cancel your appointment like it used to).

Silversun83 · 18/06/2021 12:12

Have now managed to rebook mine for three weeks earlier so now middle of next month.

It is a bit annoying that it only checks availability at the site you've already booked - it came up with no availability. Though my DH was booked into a different site (still in our city though) and when he tried it had lots so I assumed on that basis I'd be able to book there, which I did.

penguin2z · 18/06/2021 12:38

@Silversun83 was this for pfizer?

Legoninjago1 · 18/06/2021 13:02

Thanks OP. I've just rebooked mine after calling my local vaccine hub relatively unsuccessfully for a week or so. It doesn't specify which jab but it knows that it's my second. I haven't cancelled my existing one yet. Do you think they'll know it's Pfizer?

Legoninjago1 · 18/06/2021 13:05

My first was booked through my GP / local vaccination hub and not the NHS site so I'm wondering if that's why.

Silversun83 · 18/06/2021 14:05
@Silversun83 was this for pfizer?
Yep!

AnotherEmma · 20/06/2021 22:43

Has anyone else managed to rebook in the last couple of days?

We've been checking but still no availability at the same location.

Crackingowlsanctuary · 21/06/2021 08:51

I checked today and it showed me an appointment a week earlier than what I had (so next week) but when i cancelled the earliest appointment was still showing as the date I already had… re-booked it, went back in and checked again by pressing “cancel” and the earlier appointments were still on there so that’s odd 🤔 not letting me book that date for some reason…

Legoninjago1 · 21/06/2021 09:20

Yes - thanks to this thread I rebooked and got straight in the next day. I had to drive further out - about half an hour drive but I'm done now. Thanks OP.

ferretface · 21/06/2021 12:14

Thanks OP, brought my second appointment forward by 4 weeks! :)

chesirecat99 · 21/06/2021 12:20

@penguin2z I just rebooked my Moderna second jab at Guys for 8 weeks after my first exactly. There were appointments available for every day and every time slot. It also offered me alternative appointments at Islington Business Centre and Wimbledon AFC for the same date.

ferretface · 21/06/2021 12:38

My husband also successfully rebooked Moderna at Guys for the same day as me (Pfizer) so it looks like the supply is decent in central London but maybe more variable elsewhere in the country?

Coffee4Queen · 21/06/2021 13:56

Thank you OP! I just brought my 2nd Moderna at the Islington BDC forward from 11 weeks. As said OP, before confirming my cancellation it showed the available dates (quite a few days this week) but it only allowed me to book dates that were at least 8 weeks after my first injection.

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 21/06/2021 15:23

Just brought mine forward 3 weeks thanks to this thread

Butterflyinglow · 21/06/2021 19:49

I brought mine forward thanks to this thread! There weren’t any slots showing for the location I’d already booked at so I gambled and cancelled fully… then had to choose a clinic further away but managed to bring it forward by three weeks, which is totally worth it for me. Thanks OP. Wine

duvets · 21/06/2021 22:47

Thank you this is brilliant intel!

FeedMeSantiago · 22/06/2021 08:55

DH and I brought our second Pfizer jabs forward by 2.5 weeks (London). When we looked yesterday afternoon the button had changed from 'cancel' to something like 'check availability' so we could see what the same vaccine centre had before cancelling.

Once we cancelled we could see other venues too.

Friends and relatives elsewhere in the UK were also able to bring their Pfizers forward by a similar amount. Very grateful to this thread!
