Text to book jabs - legit or scam?

Perhaps I'm being overly cautious, but I'm constantly getting scam texts from The Royal Mail, Hermes, HMRC, and various other companies so am always very wary now of scam links. I've received two texts from something called 'GP Surgery' telling me to book my jab and offering me the Pfizer vaccine (detailed in the text) and directing me to a link to book it: accurx.thirdparty.nhs.uk/r/xxxxxx

Hmm, doesn't look like the texts I got to book my vaccine (from NHSvaccine). To be on the safe side I wouldn't click on the link but if you're eligible you should be able to book it directly here: www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination

Divebar2021 · 17/06/2021 09:17

It looks very similar to the text I had for my vaccination - it also was from GP Surgery but it did have my name at the top. I used it to book my jab as did my husband.

Cornettoninja · 17/06/2021 09:18

I haven’t had a text but I googled accrux and they appear to be a legitimate provider for NHS services.

delilahbucket · 17/06/2021 09:19

It is legitimate. It's from your GP surgery. It's how I booked my first. They send them when the local area is in front of the countrywide system for who they are booking in.

Fagled · 17/06/2021 09:20

Hi, Accurx is a third party booking system used by many PCNs and GP surgeries which has been used for coordinating vaccinations online.

It’s completely safe to use, and the text looks fine.

If you’re eligible under national guidelines, you can book using the national system rather than the GP focused one (accurx) if you’d prefer.

Yes, this one had my name at the top too, but I cropped it off for obvious reasons.

Yes @UnaOfStormhold that's what I was worried about. But perhaps the texts have been contracted out to several parties?? @Divebar2021 above says she received a similar one. Perhaps its regional? I'm in the South

Remember there were 2 ways of booking - one was via the GP Surgery which is how I booked my first vaccination. The second one I booked directly through the NHS site but I still received an invitation for my second from my GP Surgery. ( you had to click and decline if you had already booked it). I did not get given a date for my second when I went for my first so had to make 2 separate appointments

MrsFrisbyMouse · 17/06/2021 09:22

I think it'd legit. Accurx is the software being used to manage the appointments vaccine programme. see here

WineGetsMeThroughIt · 17/06/2021 09:22

Ah, just seen all the other replies. Thank you. I have already booked Moderna - I am VERY nervous about this vaccine and not sure I will go through with getting it, but I think I would prefer Pfizer. I will see if I can rebook and then I'll decide later

I’m in the South East

TakeYourFinalPosition · 17/06/2021 09:22

It looks different to @UnaOfStormhold’s because hers was from the central system and yours is from your GP. Accurx is the system GPs are using for bookings.

Mine and my husband were both like this and were legit Smile

Mummyoftwo91 · 17/06/2021 09:23

That looks legit to me, I work with accurx in my job and the texts we send look like this

LIZS · 17/06/2021 09:25

Mine looked similar

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 17/06/2021 09:26

Speaking to other people they all have different messages from their surgeries

It looks OK to me but if it's a scam and it reminds people to check it and book via a valid link , good for them Grin

WineGetsMeThroughIt · 17/06/2021 09:26

Thanks all. I have booked it and got a place not far from my house, versus the spot I was allocated in a town 25 mins away previously.
