How likely is it to get a positive PCR after 4 negative LFT

I went to get my second vaccine today. I was told I couldn't have it as I have had a sore throat and runny nose and I must have a PCR test due to the new Delta variant. My test is booked for tomorrow. I assumed I had hayfever and a cold as my son has had it too but tested negative on a PCR (he also had a fever as he had an ear infection). I have taken 4 LFT and each have been negative. I was told that the LFT were a guide only and basically they mean nothing. I didn't even know this. I feel really stupid even though I've followed the government testing requirements.

lfs don't pick up all cases, false negatives are a problem with them which is why they are for people with out symptoms.

Dd1 tested negative on lfs but positive on a pcr, but she had a cough.

Colleague at work recently tested positive on a lateral flow. Her boyfriend did three LFT’s himself (they’d been together solidly for the previous 3 days) which were all negative but the PCR he was able to get later that afternoon then showed positive.

Better to be safe.

LFTs are a heap of shit so entirely possible.

Someone i know had 3 negative LFTs in 12 hours and a positive PCR the next day

Thanks everyone. I guess I'll know for certain soon enough. Seems a bit pointless using the LFT now.

My friends tested positive but had a negative lateral flow on the same day.
